ok I know I'm getting ahead of myself here but does it really matter what the POE is? I mean can I drive down to Mexico and pick him up or does he have to fly in? To met I think that it would be easier to just drive. Anyone know, by the way we're closer to the Texas-Mexico border.

Thanks guys!

Any valid port of entry. Land crossings are fine.

True. Which land-crossing(s) might you consider? I'm familiar with most of the Texas/Mexico crossings and can offer some advice regarding my impressions of the CBP's attitudes and capabilities. Some of the "smaller" POEs higher in the Rio Grande Valley might be feasible for you.

Whichever POE you ultimately pick, it's wise to phone the port ahead of time to let them know the day on which you're coming (and approximately what time), and to find out if they will be prepared to process the K-1 paperwork then. Also, Texas is rife with inland CBP checkpoints, and my experiences there (as a U.S. citizen!) have not always been pleasant. Upon entering Texas at a border POE, you would do well to remember to ask the CBP personnel to call ahead to the inland checkpoint(s) on your intended route to tell those personnel to expect you.

You may already know this, but if you drive into Mexico beyond a certain distance, there are paperwork and insurance requirements for you, the U.S. citizen. Does your fiance live near the Texas border? Would he meet you in a town near there? Would you drive deeply into Mexico?

These are just some things to consider. Lest the above be misunderstood as negative, there are benefits to entering at a land port!
