Our package (I am pretty sure) is with the courier right now on the way to the consulate. If the consulate is supposed to email packet 3 to my fiance, how do they get his email address??

Hey guys, the US consulate comes under the DOS (Department of State) and so does the NVC (National Visa Center). When your case if forwarded from USCIS to NVC, all the relevant details are transferred too (this is why they ask for your and your fiances DOB and Name along with your email address when you call them to inquire about your case status).

So if the embassy were to email your fiance the packet-3, they would have their address from NVC. That being said, I am not sure if the embassy actually emails P-3. They send it by mail, its a list of documents that you need to download from the links, along with a checklist and you send these things back to the consulate.

I hope this helps !

Thanks! I have heard of people saying that their fiance has received an email, and the only email that we have ever given is mine. We will see I guess. I thought maybe we needed to call the embassy and check.

Thanks!

Hi

The Sydney consulate does email through packet 3 details. Mine went to my fiance in the US and he just forwarded it to me.

I received my interview details today and they emailed me directly with those details.. So it could go either way

I also sent them an email when i had the case number providing them with my email address for their records..

The consulate usually mails packet 3, but some consulates will email it on request. Most of the time, packet 3 doesn't contain anything that's specific to a particular case - just instructions and some forms.

Some consulates ask for a DS-230 to be sent back in response to packet 3. The DS-230 has a place where the beneficiary can write their email address. The consulate can also get your email address if you email them about your case.

You can also go to the consulate website and download packet 3 instructions, the forms are all at this site. You don't need anything from the consulate
