ok...here goes.....why is it that everything i bake here turns out YUGGY!!!! I made a pie the other day and i almost chipped a tooth on the crust....in Canada i used tenderflake lard..i can't find it here...then today i made brownies and apple crisp and they both taste like errr ummmmmm nevermind....is anyone else having this problem with baking or is it just me? i am thinking it it because the ingredients i use here are different...or maybe i just lost my touch....do you find a difference?....oh by the way...hi everyone! :goofy:

hey marilyn...i live in arizona...i could probably cook outside on the pavement most days...i find the bread very different here too...it has no density...its like eating fluff....well, i don't know what fluff tastes like but i am presuming it takes like the bread here....hehe...

if you read hat link I posted if you live in a higher altitude it can affect the outcome of your baking.. but I don't know much about Arizona so I don't know what the altitude is there...

is unsalted butter lard? i am not zackly the martha stewart type...i am more the female red green of the kitchen...hehe

nope, lard is pigs fat

pig fat?? pig fat???? UG UG UG....i have been baking with pigsfat...now ya tell me!!!!!...i am one of those people that when i eat meat i pretend it is man made...hehe...now i find out i am chowing down on pigfat...how rude and irresponsible of me...hehe

there is this little place on Olvera Street in LA that makes the best beans we assume it is because they use lard... mmmm... i got my whole family addicted to those beans now too ..lol they can't get them like that where they are in Canada ..
