Charles like any moderator will and can have their decisions reviewed by myself if need be. Trying hard to do the right thing but making a few mistakes along the learning curve is human. If there are problems with new positions I will evaluate that too. Like people have said, I admit Charles is certainly "out of the norm" with past choices but I see potential for many reasons that he can be helpful in the Regional Forums -- or I would not have asked him. There is always a risk when adding any new "abilities" to members however I think it is fair to "give a guy a chance" to do their job and go from there.

Sometimes, it takes people with leadership skills to know who has potential and who does not. It's not always something that can be quantified or explained.

not speaking for anyone other than myself - one of the issues that comes up a lot is the OT crowd wandering over & causing trouble in the upper forums. it might be taken better by the OT crowd if an OT regular 'asked' them to tone it down a bit, rather than someone they don't have much contact with on a regular basis.....i dunno just a thought

Will you consider appointing individual deputy mods for, say, the UK an RU forums, so those of us who enjoy posting in those fora don't have to be subject to Charles? Because, really, the UK forum is so tame it doesn't need him. And the RU forum has a long history of not getting along with Charles.

although post #33 in that same thread you linked is rather interesting:

Holy cow you guys. 22 pages dedicated to what will pass onto VJ history as one of the most vitriolic ####### slinging rounds. #######. Mommas all over must be proud. We don't have to agree with Ewok's choices for mods. Our opinions are of no consequence - I know that for a fact. I also know for a fact that mods can and are limited to moderate (better said, non-moderate) certain VJ members, and I would think something like this could be applied here.

If you want to dissent with charles or any other mod being appointed; that is fantastic. But keeping at the fneener neener you did this and you did that or 22 pages is moronic, plus it helps nothing. Nothing at all. Bring ahead proposals, make yourself available to the admin for moderating. Move on for crying out loud.

Guys/Gals let me be clear. I back Charles here and I would hope that everyone wishes him well in trying to be a good mod. If he stumbles (as we all do) when learning the ins and outs of the new role please be a little measured in giving him some rope. If you think he is bad (as many of you have voiced) then I can respect your opinion, but please base your opinions on his future actions as a mod.... not his past posts. Certainly if any new mod became the devil incarnate like many have implied, then I would step in . Also, like many people he has been on VJ a long time and I know that if someone took everything I have said over the course of 3-5 years I am sure they could find something bad. Charles was not a Deputy Mod for a LONG time and as such had no direction to act as one in the past.... I would not judge his future actions as a mod directly on past posts. I would instead judge his decisions and actions in the future as the measuring block. This goes for any new mod.
