In a dramatic shift, the Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that it is throwing its support behind climate change legislation making its way through the U.S. Senate.

Only it didn’t.

In email press release announcing the change is a hoax, say Chamber officials.

Several media organizations fell for it.

A CNBC anchor interrupted herself mid-sentence Monday morning to announce that the network had “breaking news,” then cut away to reporter Hampton Pearson, who read from the fake press release.

Pearson quickly followed up with a second report saying the “so-called bulletin” was an “absolute hoax.” Smelling a rat, CNBC’s Larry Kudlow demanded to know whether the White House had been involved.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

There was a time when news media did research and checked sources.

If there was I'd be interested to know when.

It used to be checked, doubled checked, and checked again, when the news cycle was overnight, not five minutes ago.

I really don't think that's true, tbh.

The issue is more the over-reliance people have on the media and how there's an expectation than reporting = truth (which of course, it doesn't).

Right, fact checking seems to take a back seat to not being seen to be last to break the news. Of course, it's the left leaning librul media who are guilty of this and it has nothing to do with making the biggest buck for the corporate owners.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Who can break the story the quickest? If they're wrong they just print/make a retraction the next day. The Corporate media is only interested in their pocketbook. They can't let facts and truth get in the way of making a buck.
