JaJo08 - the OPTIN Email is very specific. Scroll down the wiki page, it's covered...

You need - 1) DS-3032, filled out, and signed. 2) body of the email and 3) NVC Casenumber, send it all in ONE email in the format in the wiki.

For subsequent emailings, no, OPTIN is NOT the first 5 characters of the subject line - ONLY for the first one.

Good Luck !

Alrighty. Just found out that the payment for the IV Fee has cleared (late in the day, oddly enough...I've been checking every couple of hours, but it cleared at around 8:00PM EST...), and so I have just sent off the DS-230, the barcoded cover sheet and all the related documents.

My fingers are crossed that this all goes the way it should.

The waiting is going to be the gut-churning part...but then again, isn't it always?

Did you send both the I-864 & DS-230 together or in seperate emails?

Does it matter? Do they need to be seperate?

I sent them separately. I sent the I-864 etc. after I was approved for the opt-in (via email) and saw the fee available to be paid online. I waited until the fee had been cleared, then saved the PDF receipt with the barcode and sent it along with the I-864 and supporting documentation. Then I logged in to the payment site a few times each day until I saw that the DS-230 could be paid. I then paid it, and waited until the payment went through (last night), then saved the PDF receipt and sent it along with all the other files in the DS-230 package.

Important to note is that the initial email with all the files was over 6MB, and it bounced back to me. I had to reduce the file size for various documents in the package and resend. What I ultimately sent was 3.25MB and that made it through fine.

Wyatt - here's a thought???

1. get the DS-3032 kit via email. (non-fillable DS-3032 pdf file, barcode info, and the AOS Bill link )

2. send in the RIGHT DS-3032 to optin.

3. pay the AOS bill (70 bucks) and wait.

3a. register to view the new invoices/payment receipts (which url? )

4. when the AOS bill shows 'paid' - send in the I-864 with the AOS receipt printed to pdf file.

5. when the IV bill shows up online to be paid - pay it, and wait.

6. when IV bill shows as 'paid' - send in the ds-230 with the IV receipt printed to pdf file.

IMO, getting the DS-3032 'kit' via email is useful, as it has that first AOS bill link with other info.

Then going forward, you can register to see/pay/check status of the online payments (correct/concur/deny ? )

Then, as payment status(es) change, can send in stuff WITHOUT WAITING for email confirmation or email instructions.

What are your thoughts?

Warmest Regards

PS - I had this epiphany yesterday, after reading your posts here - but got it clear about an hour ago - at least clear enough to present it and ask you about it ;)

Yep, that's exactly what I've done, actually! I've been checking the payment site a few times each day. Everything has been paid etc.

I decided to do it this way, as it just makes sense, really. I figure at the NVC end, all they're going to care about is that the packets have the barcoded fee receipts with them. I don't think they're going to quibble and say, "Oh, you should have waited for the email first..." I could be wrong, but hey, I'm a poker player. I've got a strong hunch that I'm right!

I DID get a false "fee bill unpaid" email today, but I noticed in the CR-1 forum that a LOT of people have received those in the last couple of days. I'm going to call NVC tomorrow just to make sure everything's kosher.

Thanks for keeping tabs on this, Darnell. Much appreciated.

To update everyone:

I had sent my completed IV Packet (DS 230 Forms etc.) on October 22nd and NVC said they received it on the 23rd.

I just called (Nov 2nd) and they said today it was under review, and if there was a need for an RFE they would notify, otherwise you can consider your case to be completed.

So I guess everyone, it takes around 10 - 12 business days as usual!

If only interviews were that quick haha..

mastr12 - thats great news !!!!

hopefully, you won't get lagged on further namecheck delays...

two things that seem to make it 'case complete' ??

1. can't log in to payment portal anymore or

2. NVC says 'case complete' when you call in for status..

IIRC, for what's next AFTER ... start calling DOS call center for status.

Congrats, and good luck !!!

what do you mean? I thought the process was done ?

Oh, sorry, I mean 'the process' where you might be thinking 'NVC processing'.

DOS has info for the rest of 'it' - ie appointment dates, casefile status, etc etc,

but it's 'available' AFTER NVC is complete. My apologies for my confusion !

We started the EP process and are regretting it now. Every email we have sent the NVC has gotten held up in their third party email router for a minimum of 2 weeks until it is forwarded to the NVC.

I agree with one of the previous posts: EP stands for 'Ever Pissed'
