Protesters rally at 'Republic,' claim media bias

More than 40 people on Saturday carried signs in front of The Arizona Republic's offices in downtown Phoenix to protest what they say is media bias and issues such as stimulus spending and health-care reforms.

It was one of the media protests across the country as part of "Operation: Can You Hear Us Now?" Protests at offices of the Mesa Republic office and Channel 12 (KPNX) in downtown Phoenix were also planned.

Tom Jenney, a participant and Arizona director of Americans for Prosperity, said people are upset with the media because they aren't listening to their political concerns.

"We want the media to know that we are real people with concerns over what's going on in Congress," he said.

I really don't understand why folks think they need to go out and make a fuss to prove that point. That's what elections are for. You can be quiet, and they will get your point.

That's the essence of the issue, isn't it? These loudmouths are the folks who supported the candidates that lost last time around. Accepting the outcome of a democratic election isn't what they believe in, I suppose. Hence, the noise.

Dude, first of all, I am speaking for myself. Always have, always will.

Secondly, even though Sen. McCain is still in office, he didn't win the office he was running for last November. And the fact remains that those that voted for the GOP platform didn't win even if their particular candidate may have succeeded. The GOP is in the minority in both chambers of Congress and out of the White House. So, the country is taking a long overdue turn in direction - politically speaking - and the backwards crowd is not happy about it and makes all this noise as a result. Useless noise, no less.

Unfortunately (for you), that "turn in direction" seems like it will be short-lived, as the "backwards crowd" seems to be picking up momentum.

I only hope the GOP does not have an easy time getting power back, they certainly have not been in the wilderness long enough to have learned their lesson.
