Hii, I'm due to have our first baby in about 4 weeks, and I'm wondering if anyone can share their experiences with having their baby while their husband/fiance was still in his home country.. What did you do to make it as inclusive as possible for him? Did the hospital allow you to have a webcam in your room after delivery? How did he handle it?

I'd love to hear any stories that could help us deal with these crappy circumstances :P

Thank you all in advance for your time ;)

Hi,

congrats on the upcoming birth! I can't help you on the spouse thing, but my hospital does allow webcams (they have free wifi), which we will use to introduce this new arrival to my family abroad. I'd imagine most hospitals are ok with it once the birth is done with, but maybe not during the birth.

I had our son on October 7, 2009 and my fiance was still in the UK. They did not allow webcams so my Dad called my fiance as soon as I gave birth and he got to hear his son cry. Then my Dad took severeal pics and went home that night and emailed them to him. God my phone bill for the three days I was in the hospital was outrageous...lol As soon as we got home, I got on webcam and he saw him every day like that. He is due to arrive here in the states on Dec 29 and I cannot wait to hand him his son for the first time. I know I will bawl...lol Good Luck with the baby!!!
