Hi Richa,

I did contact a senator. He wrote me a letter saying that one of his staff who is in charge with the immigration issues will follow up on my case. I left her a message already 2 days ago, she hasn't call me back yet.

At this point I don't even know how to check if the case was transferred from VA to MD. Should I call the 1-800 number or should I make an infopass?

This is really frustrating.

Oh, and for the EAD renewal...am I supposed to get a new biometric app letter? It's getting kind of late...most of the people get the letter within a week after they get the receipt numbers. What a mess.

Congratulations Juliava,

It has indeed been a visa journey but I sm glad you finally got it.

so did you receive a letter in the mail or an email.

Do you think the letter from the Congressman's office could have helped?

I am still waiting to hear something from them.

Thank you everybody for your nice words!

Last night around 8:30pm I was having dinner and I received a

text message stating that there was an update on my case and I

should check the status on the official website. The text had

the case number as well. Obviously I dumped my dinner and when I

checked the I-485 case status online I noticed it was changed to

"Card production/Oath Ceremony". Both I-485 and I-130 were

updated yesterday.

I don't wish anybody a long journey like mine so here are

several things that I learnt during this stressful process:

1. Do not rely on the 1-800 number only. Make info pass

appointments if needed.

2. Ideally - try to not change your address during process. That

might bring delays to your case. If you change your address

after the green card interview and no decision was made yet, and

you live in a different state, expect your case to be

transferred and adjudicated in the state you currently live.

3. Write letters to your senator. Honestly, I still don't know

if my case was finalized due to this or due to my info passes,

or due to the Baltimore office. But it doesn't hurt. They would

inquire about your case.

4. I don't encourage anybody for overstaying but if you

overstayed-don't think you will get denied exclusively because

of that. Filing for AOS is the right thing to do. As long as you

are healthy, you have a legit marriage, you have a clean record

and the US citizen paid his taxes and makes a decent income

above the poverty line there is nothing to worry about.

Soila-have you scheduled an infopass?Your case is way, way out

of the processing times... Schedule them every month, don't call

the 1-800 number anymore.

I will let you know guys when I get my green card in the mail

.How long does it usually take?

Hi Surfmania! Thank you for your message and I wish you good luck at the interview!!

Yes, I think we all wonder "what if..?" , but I also wondered "ok, we have a legit marriage, so how in the world we can possibly mess it up?there is no way!"We had a lawyer who submitted our applications but at the interview we chose to go by ourselves. Why spending money on a lawyer if we knew there shouldn't be any issues and anyway the questions will be addressed to us, not to him?And I don't regret it. The interview went very well but not finalized because of my missing biometrics. I never imagined such an outcome so my point is don't think about it too much, you can't anticipate it anyway. I hope that you will be approved on the spot because waiting after the interview- for any reason you may have-is a pain. You need a lot of patience, optimism and faith.

I am looking forward to hear great news, Surfmania!Good luck again!!!!!

Juliava and friends,

I received the biggest and most blessed news this year. First a text messgae came in that my case status had been updated then I went online to check what it said. Here is what the online message read:

Document production or Oath Ceremony

On May 3, 2010, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I want to thank everyone for the support and encouragement.

For me I think the customer service phone call did it. I had not scheduled any infopass but was preparing to write to the congressman when this came through!! Its been a very long journey from an A2 visa in 1993 to F1 to B2 visa to marriage to a stokes interview on June 23rd 2009.
