So I called USCIS today inquiring about my case. They said they are still working on my case and actually everything is running within the estimated processing times from 6 months - 1 year. He gave me the impression that I am being impatient, that I am calling too early.

Awww you're definitely not impatient! I think you've been really gracious about the wait. I mean how many months has it been now?

Especially as you've seen people who filed months after you, get approved before you which kindof contradicts their instructions that state something along the lines that they process cases in the order received. I think it takes a very dignified person to handle your crazy long wait and not get mad. Sure residency is not a right, it's a benefit but you've been patient for a really long time - so hope you get a nice Christmas present from them soon! :star:

It's been almost 8 months since I filed the I-485. I feel like a lost mammoth! :(

My husband is very optimistic though. Oh well, I'll keep waiting and checking the mailbox.

Sigh! And I was hoping that when I log in after such a long gap, I would find out that you are done with the painful waiting and moved on with the blessings of USCIS. I am extremely disappointed with this system. You are not being impatient. I think your case is well outside the processing time now and its about time you write to your congressman and Senator like I did. And it paid off. Don't wait any longer. Schedule another infopass.

Saspk, thank you for your advice and compassion. I am trying to hang in here through the end of the Year and I will schedule another infopass in January. Our local office told me that I should get a decision by then. On the other hand, when I called USCIS they told me "processing times are between 6months-1 year, they are still working on my case so I should wait. Honestly, I really don't get it, why does this "processing" take so long?I feel that it's not much left to be done in my case, I have been through all the AOS stages!

I don't know my senator's or the congressman's names/contact info and I have no clue where to find them either. I am not sure if it's worthy for me to make a lot of noise, you see, I overstayed&worked illegally for a couple of years before I filed for AOS. I don't want them to turn against me.

I just checked the processing times for Wash DC local office. They updated the processing times yesterday and it looks like currently they are processing the I-485 applications received by April 27th. My I-485 receipt notice says April 22nd. Is it time to schedule another infopass appointment?I don't want to call them anymore.

Yes, its always best to bother them personally, when you can. And its time you schedule another infopass. Hopefully you'll come across an officer who is more helpful. Good Luck Juliava.

So check this out:

My schedule has been really busy and I couldn't schedule an infopass yet. Anyway, I called USCIS today and finally I had the chance to talk to a normal human voice who understood my concerns. He confirmed that yes, my case is out of the processing times and he was going to place a service request. He puts me on hold and guess what?He says that unfortunately at the moment there is an error in the system and he is not able to place the service request and he asked me to call back another time. Damn!Should I just laugh or cry? :crying:

Hopefully you can call back and you will be able to put a service request through for your case. Just breathe... technology is definitely not 100%... Hoping it goes well for you next time you call!

Thank you guys for your replies.

I am really sorry too. These kind of "incidents" are just killing my optimism. They are making me believe that it could be something wrong with my case and that's why it's being left behind. It's hard to deal with these kind of negative thoughts! :crying:

Richa, I appreciate your help, I really do.

I don't even know who the senator is and I don't even know how to contact them anyway. Unfortuntely in my country our political representatives are in general non-values and I don't know how they could help me at this point.

I didn't want to make a big deal, because my case includes an overstaying and working without authorization. I understand that these are forgiven when you file AOS, but still...they are a stain on my case, there are things that don't look good and period. AOS interview went great, I hadn't been asked about overstay or working, or anything, thye just said the I485 bio is missin and needs to be taken. ok, I did it and it cleared. I was taking the whole waiting time as a price I am paying for my mistakes. However, at this point officially the case passed the processing times and I don't have any excuses anymore for the delay.

If you living in New York i can send link to you for senator but somewhere else try in google for your senator's website and find it. i know SASPAK did the same way. he took senator's help.try it i am sure it will work out. talk to saspak about this. he had the same situtation with USCIS like you do no reply from USCIS for long time.

Good Luck

Thank you, Richa for your support! No, unfortunately I don't live in NY area..., I am in Wash DC area.

I called USCIS again this afternoon. I was on the phone for about half hour, but I finally placed the service request. These people ask a lot of questions! The request was sent to the Baltimore office, and she added notes that I had my interview, and my bio and that the case was out of the Wash DC office processing times. She also gave me a receipt number and she said that I should hear back in 30 days.

Let's see how it goes now. If I dont hear back in 30 days...maaaaann, I hope it's not the case.
