How do you know your package was "touched"?

Our timeline

05/25/2007: met in Bruges, Belgium

07/03/2008 : first visit to the US

08/20/2008 : flew back to hometown

09/09/2008 : B2 visa approved

10/15/2008 : arrive back in the US

03/30/2009 : B2 extension approved

06/15/2009 : proposal

09/28/2009: I-129F sent !

09/29/2009: I-129F signed for at USCIS!

09/30/2009: Check cashed!

09/30/2009 : Flight back to hometown

10/06/2009 : NOA1 Hardcopy in the mail

10/18/2009 : James returned from Belgian trip

12/24/2009 : Santa brought us our NOA2 11:01 pm Belgium time and 4:01 pm USA time! Merry Christmas to us!

01/02/2010 : NOA2 Hardcopy in the mail

01/06/2010 : NVC sent case to Embassy in Brussels

01/11/2010 : Consulate received case

01/15/2010 : Medical done

01/18/2010 : Packet 3 received in mail

01/19/2010 : Packet 3 sent

01/25/2010 : Packet 4 received in mail

02/04/2010 : Interview approved !

03/17/2010 : Coming home!

06/08/2010 : got married! / birthday

AOS timeline

06/09/2010 : AOS filed

06/15/2010 : check cashed

06/18/2010 : Received NOA for AOS, EAD, AP

07/12/2010 : Biometrics app. done

07/12/2010 : touch AOS, EAD

07/13/2010 : touch AOS, EAD

07/24/2010 : Received interview letter

08/12/2010 : EAD card in the mail

08/26/2010 : AOS interview - passed!

08/30/2010 : Welcome letter

08/26/2010 : GC produced

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

TBC....

12/21/09 Packet 3 Sent Out

2/12/10 Interview @ 8:30

APPROVED!!!!

2/26/10 POE @ JFK

Still haven't recieved visa yet: I was lucky enough to get my money back because the flight canceled.

3/2/10 Visa ready for pick up

3/3/10 visa picked up

3/3/10 POE @ JFK

5/1/10 Wedding

7/19/10 Mailed AOS Package

7/21/10 Package Received

7/27/10 Check Cashed

7/30/10 Recieved NOA

8/13/10 Case transfered to CSC!

8/18/10 Received biometrics letter

8/26/2010 Biometrics appt

9/13/2010 EAD and AP approved

9/18/2010 AP recieved

10/1/2010 Greencard Approved

10/09/2010 Greencard Recieved, DONE with USCIS until August 2012

You can sign up on uscis.gov and create an account where you enter your case numbers. You can see updates there and everytime someone works on it, you see a new date, which is the touch.

It's actually your case that gets touches, not your package...but thanks for a smile here! :D

AOS completed in 11/2009

ROC completed in 06/2012
Received BBG from Germany in 02/2013

Passed N-400 interview and civics test 06/07/2013

Oath ceremony some time in July

1/14/2015 - Package received in Phoenix

1/16/2015 - NOA date (hard copy received 1/22)

1/20/2015 - Check cashed

2/09/2015 - Biometrics

2/11/2015 - In line for interview

3/28/2015 - Hard copy interview notice received

4/29/2015 - Interview at Chicago field office - Approved!!!

5/22/2015 - Oath ceremony - Now a US citizen!!!!!!

Yeah, just go to USCIS.gov and look for the case tracking.

Just keep in mind that the time between NOA1 and NOA2 (where you might actually see a change in your case status) can take months. it took about 5 or 6 months for me.
