we got our approval about an hour ago. The text came at 9:19pm.. I am so excited and happy, but must admit I am feeling a little guilty when there are people that filed months ago.. and other September people that filed before me.

Right now I am having a glass of champagne and hoping everyone in the September group gets good news soon!

Our's was only touched once, and I have seen some people who never have any touches...

Now here is where people will tell me I am crazy. I feel bad.. you really have no idea.. yes, I'm excited, but I don't think it's fair. The first one's in should be the first one's out.

I don't know why we got it so quickly.. but we've had two years of denials for other visas, and this last year has been rough for both of us, so maybe catching this little bit of luck is God's way of telling us not to lose hope :)

I know I am still going to be a fanatic about checking the site, because now I am watching for all of you.. I really do feel some good things coming today.

No, I dont think you're crazy. I can understand how you feel! But you shouldnt feel bad either. I have moments when Im feeling guilty just for wishing that our visa would be approved quickly. I know people have been waiting for months, I know it might not be fair, but its God will, so... Id say enjoy it to the maximum, be as happy as possible cause u deserve it. And dont forget to keep ur fingers crossed for us :) Its hard to compare stories and say that some people need it more than others... Im sure we all want to be with our loved one as soon as possible, im sure its hard for everyone to wait for years..... so if u 2 made it sooner than others, its just because you deserve it ;) So again enjoy your victory! And good luck for the rest of the journey!

No action today?

I'm off tuesdays and wednesdays so I have nothing to do but stalk VJ and USCIS websites. I should probably do some wedding planning or work on our wedding website, but I just can't stay away from here!!

I got the SMS message today and checked and sure enough it was there, 39 days.

The only concern I had about a REF, was that I forgot to resize her 'passport style' photo into US specs; I kicked myself for that, when I realized it a few weeks later. Fortunately they didn't seem to mind and let it through.

I did the bare minimum for the requirements, but it was all good stuff. Visa Stamps in my passport, hotel receipts, boarding passes. Photos were secondary evidence, so I only used two from each of our meetings, which was in Moscow, Cyprus and Turkey. 6 in total, printed off my ink jet printer on good quality photo paper, with dates, names and places next to them.

Everything else was standard fare, birth certificate, divorce papers, blah, blah, blah.

I used Acrobat Professional to fill out the forms and resize the type, so everything would fit in the space provided. I didn't want there to be a need for additional sheets or legibility issues; when you make a government worker's life easy, they make your life easy. When asked to describe the circumstances under which we met, I wrote maybe two lines: the countries we met in and the dates.

No emails, love stories or chat logs. I didn't bind anything in fancy binders or used labels. I paper clipped each 'grouping' of papers into their respective pile; evidence of meeting together, Divorce papers together, application forms... etc and placed them in a USPS priority envelope and dropped it in a mailbox.

I just decided that I wasn't going to over think this, as the examiner was going to break everything apart anyway...why make him/her go through the extra hassle of tearing apart my setup?

Remember each situation is different, as is each country's rules and regs; so your miles may vary.

Good luck everyone and Godspeed.

You can register on USCIS website: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do

There is a 'sign-up for case updates option'. My first update was the date they sent my NOA1 - 09/18/2009.

Then on the 22nd of october, it said last updated on 10/22/2009, so it meant was touched again. Everytime the 'last updated' date changes, it means that your file has been touched. You should create a portfolio on that website, where you add your petition number. And when you click on My Portfolio, you will see when it was last updated. How does it help? JUst to keep track of what is going on with your petition. Keeps you busy while waiting :) Remember that there was cases when the file hasnt been touched or updated... they just got their NOA2 and it was the only update since NOA1. It doesnt help to get faster approval... Good luck!! Hope my explanations were clear enough..

Register as applicant customer. You can put either your info or your fiancee's. I'd say fill in your info and your email so you can get email updates. You can also receive updates by cell phone. Just make sure to turn on alerts both for email and mobile phone.
