Hey, so for those who got their NOA2 and are doing the packet 3 stuff. Are you really sending originals of everything? I'm just wondering if I really have to send my passport to my fiance.

Hey, so for those who got their NOA2 and are doing the packet 3 stuff. Are you really sending originals of everything? I'm just wondering if I really have to send my passport to my fiance.

I read somewhere before that you should just send copies of the pages, like you would do with the initial petition. Surely they can't expect you to send your PASSPORT through the mail. That's just asking for it... I guess you can always email the embassy your application will be sent to?

Don't worry about being a downer! It's okay to feel awful. Yesterday, my boss came in to ask how everything was going (I was analyzing data from an experiment he wanted to see) and I just started crying. It was definitely not pretty.... But soon, you'll have a reason to feel twice as happy as you feel bad right now. It might not be soon enough to keep you from feeling ####### for a few days, though. I bet it's like childbirth (no, seriously, bear with me here): Mums always say that they forget how much it hurt as soon as they get to see/hold their baby. So maybe you'll forget how much pain all the waiting is when you see that NOA2 smiling up at you!

Bacon, I was wondering this too. When it says original documents, do they mean from the USC too? Do we need our USC's original birth certs etc etc for packet 3? Surely not, surely it's just the beneficiary's originals they want to see at interview (that's if me and you Bacon, aren't still waiting our NOA2 this time next year!).

Thanks in advance for answer x

I bet that's it! Still, though, it doesn't hurt to shoot off an email to the embassy, right? Especially when you're ready to ask them if they got your packet in the mail...

Regarding the "packet 3 stuff"...........

The "packet 3" also called "P3" also called, "K Instruction Packet" is a letter from the consulate along with a Form OF-169. The Form OF-169 is a combination of instructions and a checkoff list. The applicable items on the "checkoff list" must be checked off and the Form OF-169 is then returned to the consulate. By "checking off" the applicable items, you are telling the consulate that the applicable documents have been acquired.

There are 3 items that should be returned to the consulate. They are: 1.) The Form OF-169, "Checkoff list". 2.) Form DS-230, Part 1. 3.) Self-addressed, EMS mailing label.

Of course I am only writing about my experience with the consulate in China. I do not know if there are differences elsewhere.

But, I am pretty sure that you will not need to send your passport anywhere.

:) Thanks so much for that. I was feeling so bad after last night cause I felt like such a spoil sport. It's like goodness I'm such a B**** :P I'm just so worried about not making it in time for my sister to be at my wedding....which would so suck since she's the one planning it for me.

And I think the only moms who say that about childbirth are the ones who were drugged up. Trust me, I was so a childbirth druggie on that one. Four epidurals......oh, yeah, childbirth was a blast. :D

No, for China at least, the P4 is just more instructions, and nothing is returned to the consulate after P4 until your interview.

Hi Bacon - I got answer to this on another forum. The answer is no. Someone took a copy of passport of USC just in case, but it wasn't required.

I'm starting to wonder now if the reason my case is taking so long is because I was born on a military base in Japan. My mom says that they'd just have to confirm my birth with the Department of State which holds all military records. And I provided a copy of my FS-240 and my passport.

Bacon, I would officially start to panic after this week is over. Hang in there just a bit more.

I tried calling the service center last week but they said as expected that I'm stuck with waiting until exactly five months are up. They told me that on March 19th I can call to find out what the delay is on my application and they'll submit a ticket for investigation.

I just don't get it. They said that they show no indication of an RFE notice but that could also be because they haven't touched my application since the moment I submitted it.

Hey all anxious October NOA1's:

How are you dealing with this emotional roller coaster?

One day I'm full of hope and the next I'm staring at these lists and timelines and wondering when, when, when!?!

Then someone with a later NOA1 gets an approval and while you are happy for them, you say to yourself Why Not Us?

It's discouraging to think our future lives are in the hands of a complete stranger who could make a monumental decision and all we can do is WAIT.

I keep kicking myself for not sending my paperwork in September when things were actually moving.
