my hubby is getting excited about the possibility of a Angels and Dodgers World series...

That could be interesting.

Now that the Sox are out, I can only hope for a humiliating Yankees defeat in some form.

yeah it would..

the regular season games between those two teams are bad enough...lol.. I have been to a couple and some of the fans get really crazy...

Congrats, Phillies!

And kudos to the Rockies for preventing four division series sweeps!

The division series really should be best of 7.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Anyone catch the Tigers-Twins tiebraker yesterday/last night?

I did. My fantasy team had players still going.

hmmmmmmmmm...footbal is indeed the Game..too me....but i root for the cardinals..

Ha ha.....surely you jest! You root for the Lambs?

GGGGGGOOOOOOOO Cards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmmmmmmmm...footbal is indeed the Game..too me....but i root for the cardinals..

Re: football & the other Cardinals, the husband and I went to a Cardinals game the week before last. It was my first NFL game in a real NFL stadium (as opposed to seeing the Cardinals in Sun Devil Stadium). The game itself kinda sucked, but it was a great time.

I grew up a Pats fan (and still support them), but my dad never took us to see a game because he was worried about the "rowdy" fans. He was a little weird about that sort of thing. We did see lots of Sox games, tho.

You guys have Warner now, right?

pujols and the redbirds

Pujols better get his act together!

Yup, we have Warner.

I'm rooting for the Cards (STL) in their series. I hate the Dodgers (sorry Marilyn!).

Dodgers aren't even filling the stadium. WTH. Can't get near Busch Stadium during most games.

thing is a lot of people usually get there in the 3rd inning and leave in the 7 inning.... lol.. probably because of all the traffic...

and I just checked there is an average of 46,440 people at a Dodger home game and an average of 41,274 at a game at Busch Stadium...

http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance

The key to that is the city populations of the potential stadium draw. We are, I think, 5th in attendance this year. Compare our city population to that of the 4 in front of us.

And, what I was saying was you can't get a ticket to the playoffs in St. Louis to save your life. Wishing I lived in LA now so I could've gone.

Way to go Dodgers!! They are on the next round!!

In my world, there IS crying in baseball. I am not going to survive till pitchers and catchers report in February!!!!!! :crying::crying::crying:

I guess I am going to have to root for Anaheim. Hate those damn Yankees.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

For those die hard Red Sox fans, I'll ask you the question that my son asked me last night. Since we think the Yankees are the devil and we think Manny is a close second, who will we root for if the Dodgers play the Yankees in the WS? My answer to him is that I will root for no one - won't even turn on the games. How's that for being a bitter Sox fan? :innocent:

I told myself I wouldn't watch the 2000 subway series for the same reason--but of course I ended up watching it. I can't not turn on the World Series.

I hope it won't be Yankees-Dodgers, but if it is...well, at least someone has to lose! :)

I'd end up rooting for the Dodgers, as much as I dislike them (which has little to do w/ Manny). And there would be something poetic about Joe Torre's team beating the Yankees in the WS.

LoL @ Sox fans. No need to be so melodramatic and smug, you got rolled.

Red Sox fans = melodramatic. It's well known.

In terms of fan smugness, no entity on the sporting earth holds a candle to the Yankees...except maybe Man United.

It's a well known fact that Man Utd. supporters are chavs

I despise all boston teams. I am so looking forward to when the Lakers overtake the Celtics record for most world championships. Regarding the Red Sox, they have BECOME the Yankees. Everything they have done in the last 8 years has been a virtual reflection of what the Yankees did. The Yankees are able to spend so much money on players and scouting not just because they are in the number one market, but because of their superior business model. The team runs at a deficit, however, they are able to more than compesate with other business ventures. I dont' fault them for their forethought, nor do I hate them for winning. Don't hate the playa, hate the game

Rob, you're overthinking this.

Re: chavs, I think Chelsea has a higher chav ratio, but that's neither here nor there.

when I told my husband the yankees were the "man united of baseball" he was able to get into baseball properly for the first time. Hating a team as much as he hated Man U was a concept he could really get his around.

..I was in a sports bar here in LA a few years back a bunch of Dodgers fans started ribbing a guy in a Yankee cap. The guy actually started to pout and declared everyone "jealous" and stormed off. This man was approximately 35-40 years old.

When I was back in Boston for a visit in August, we went to a sports bar just across from Fenway after failing to get scalped tickets. There were a couple of obnoxious Yankee fans in there bellowing at the TV (the Sox were in the process of losing miserably). I'm honestly surprised they didn't get the sh!it kicked out of them. The husband commented that this would never happen in England. In fact, the guys wouldn't have even been allowed in the bar for safety reasons.
