We already have a CR1 interview in Paris, will embassy also schedule a K3 interview ? they already have our K3 petition in Paris?

And yes, I know CR1 is the better visa over the K3. Just need to know if they will issue K3 interview also.

Thank you!

Truly happy!!!

Well I can tell you what happened with us.

We applied CR/1 and of course followed with K3.

K3 came first as suspected.

Interview...12 days AP.

The day they issued his K3 visa to him the interview packet came for CR/1.

WHAT TO DO??

take the K3 and run OR wait out the CR1 interview and another immeninent AP.

Oh the lawyer told us....since you are at the crossroads here wait for the CR1 visa...saves you money and more headaches when he comes.

MY GOD how we felt passing that K3 up. So uncertain but you know what in the end it was worth it.

He came with the greencard and now all we have to do is Remove Conditions in a little less than a year.

Good Luck  HOWEVER I suggest if you he does get the K3....let him come on it no sense in waiting any longer or taking any chances.

Well my dearest, only reason we want K3 interview is due to his Frency residency card expires Nov. 6th, and wanted a CR1 interview before that, and did not happen, so Im trying to get a K3 interview which is assigned by the embassy, and they have had lour K3 since Sept 18 it was in AP at NVC for 37 days, anyways, Im still hoping embassy will answer my emails and fax requesting a Oct. K3 interview. I told them we are completly prepared for interview, just need medical exam and he is ready to do that. In mean while he is trying to extend it for 1 month, we are doing all we can.

Truly happy!!!

So Sandrila, do you mean the approved K3 visa becomes invalid when you decide to go for the CR1 interview ? I think you can still use it for traveling to the US while you wait for the CR1 interview. Correct me if I am wrong...

If an immigrant visa is available to the applicant then a K-3 interview cannot be scheduled.

Each embassy interprets that in its own way. Some embassies will schedule a K-3 interview and be open to the possibility of switching it to a CR-1 on that day. Others will not schedule A K-3 interview if a CR-1 is already scheduled since that's the ultimate goal and they don't want to waste their time scheduling an unnecessary appointment.

So that's what the question here is. It's not that it's invalid, it just may not happen at all if the embassy is aware of the CR-1.

Naturalization

That makes sense, imaisha. The Mumbai embassy confrmed in email what you said, that is if they receive both the K3 and CR1 then they will only schedule the CR1 interview. I just called the NVC and I am assigned a case# for K3 , however no case# assigned for the CR1 yet. So I guess probably the K3 interview will take place ahead of the CR1 interview if the CR1 is still at NVC by that time. If not then maybe I will be able to switch the K3 interview date for the CR1.
