Hi there!

I just want to know or get an idea on how much medical check up cost here in California, mainly here in Marin county, Sonoma or Napa.

And do I need past vaccination records to be filed with my I-693?

Thank you! i will be waiting for your insights. =)

if you go to the doctor dont forget to bring your vaccination copy, tell them that they need to transfer it in to I-693 bec you need it for the adjustment of status, I remember they gave me Tetanus vaccine and they charged me $40

hope it helps

I'm not in CA but if you don't have any records of your vaccinations then you just need to have them all over again. My husband did not have any of his records either. I think we paid almost 400 dollars for the whole thing. he had to get TB, Tetnus, Mumps, Chickenpox and a couple other ones I think.

The medical costs will vary at each facility. I could have paid a lot less but we chose a place that did everything in house. All the bloodwork and everything and they did immigration stuff a lot. So, was willing to pay a little more to have everything done correctly...they were also able to turn it around in like 2-3 days because they did everything in house.

I just pulled a list of civil surgeons off the USCIS website and started calling a bunch of places.

Thank you very much! this is a big help... at least I will have a budget in mind for my medical exam.

I also checked the USCIS website for list of doctors and I am hoping the one that I got near our place

won't be charging too much. On his website he said $215 for the whole INS examination and additional

fee if I don't have any of the vaccination records.

Thank u very much! =)

  • 1 month later...

I went to have my medical done a couple of days ago in Modesto at Modesto Primary Care. It cost $100 each for my daughter and I.

We got called in, they took our height, weight and blood pressure a TB test. That was it! They gave me the forms to get my bloodwork done and ushered me out the door.

I DO NOT recommend anybody go to this facility for a couple of reasons:

1. I didn't even see a doctor.

2. They didn't say anything about vaccinations. I had to ask them about it. I asked for a list, and they didn't have one. They had no idea which vaccinations I needed.

3. They tried to send my 11 year old daughter for blood testing (even though it's not required under 14).

3. They put my name on the bloodwork papers, but in the wrong place. In the billing section, they put a case number instead of my name. This meant that legally the laboratory where I got my bloodwork done couldn't send it electronically to my health insurance company. Now they have to send me a bill, then I have to call up the head office at the laboratory and give them my insurance information and hope it goes though.

I have to go back today to have my TB test read. I don't know how it works (would have been nice if someone there had a clue), I guess I have to submit proof of vaccinations at a later time once I get them done at my primary physician and THEN the doctor transcribes it all. It's very frustrating to pay that kind of money for very little work and still have to be worried about whether or not they are doing things properly.

UGH!

Hi Kitikichat,

I live in California but quite a few hours away from you - I live in Tahoe but got my medical in Reno. I just called some of the ones on the USCIS list and basically took the first one that answered. Mine was ok, not as bad as Miranda & Johns' one - thank goodness.

Mine cost $125... I had to go back 2 days later to get the TB test result read. I asked about the vaccinations on the 1st day my immigration medical place wouldn't do them, but said they had a list of places which would do them. They said you can't get the vaccinations until after they've read the TB result. I asked for the list early so I could make an appointment. None of the places they'd given me to get vaccinations returned my call or were only doing flu shots.

The vaccinations depend on your age and what the civil surgeon deems appropriate. I'm 27 and the only 2 they said i'd need is MMR & tetanus... I had a vaccination history but the tetanus wasn't within the last ten years. The MMR i'd had as separate vaccinations/had one of the illnesses and they didn't accept it as they needed a diagnosing physician signature for one of them. But did accept the other 2 - but I sill had to get the MMR...

I got the vacinations at my local doctors in tahoe, randomly my health insurance agreed to pay for the vaccinations - preventative care I think. Then once i'd had the vaccinations I had to take the proof back to Reno to the civil surgeon to complete the form...

Good Luck to you and Miranda&John too...

Lechatnoir is right, the price varies from location to location. I am from VA and I remember paying around $300 and they took care of everything. I guess Lechatnoir is from the same area and as you see she remembers paying around $400.

The best thing to do is go on USCIS website and find a civil surgeon close to your location.

Call the civil surgeon's office and I am sure they will answer all your questions and they will let you know exactly what they need from you.

Good luck!

It will be cheaper if you have all your vaccination records. Around $300 if you have nothing.
