Thank you! I was nervous and at one stage felt my mouth was talking without my brain in gear! I think it showed as the officer interviewing me asked me to relax!

Congratulations KikiDoug!

Were you done with your interview by 2:15pm? If yes, why didn't they schedule your oath for the same day?

Also, when was your 3 year continuous permanent residence requirement satisfied?

Is that true that if I'm done with my interview before 3 year residence even by a few days they can't do same day oath, and I have to make another trip to the field office?

Yes, we were out by 1.30 PM. The officer said the next available oath date was Wednesday this week, so I took it. :star:

My 3 year continuous permanent residence requirement was satisfied on 1 September (see my timeline)

Not sure about your last question, but I read on another thread that they wouldn't schedule an interview before that time anyway.

Hello! My interview was today and it went well.

We arrived in Baltimore and found parking in a parking garage ($10/hr) just 5 minutes walk from the federal building. We went through security, and gave the interview letter to reception. The room was full of people but I only waited about 5 minutes before being called in. My husband waited in the waiting room.

A lady took me to a cubicle and explained she would do the reading, writing and civic test. I was asked the following questions:

1) What is the name of the national anthem?

2) What do the 13 stripes on the flag stand for?

3) What ocean is off the west coast?

4) What happened on September 11th?

5) What is the rule of law?

6) How old must you be to vote for president?

I had to read: "What is the largest state in America?" (or similar to this)

I had to write: "Alaska is the largest state in America" (or similar to this)

After, I went back out and waited for 5 minutes then was called in again by a different officer (a man this time). We went to a different office and he swore me in by oath. He took my passport, driving license and green card, plus my old 2 year GC and EAD card. Then he went through lots of papers without asking me anything, and was stapling/clipping, stamping forms. Then we went through my N400 application form in detail, question by question, and I was reaffirming my answers that I had put on the N400 form. I signed a form, then he said I was approved, and asked if I wanted to go to the oath ceremony next week. He didn't ask for any other documents and there was no chat about off topic things. He gave me back my passport, GC and driving license (he kept the old GC and EAD and stapled them to my file).

He gave me a white form that said I had passed the reading/writing/civic test and that I was recommended for approval. He then printed out my blue oath letter - September 23rd in Baltimore  - and then I was free to leave.

Phew!
