Col BG your survey poll on your logo is out of date and old news. Need to update that poll.

Also if this film was worth at $hit Hollywood or Bollywood or someone would have picked it up and be showing it to make them money no matter what, controversy sells!

So what do you have against religion anyway? You do not believe in it at all?

A British film about Charles Darwin has failed to find a US distributor because his theory of evolution is too controversial for American audiences, according to its producer.

By Anita Singh, Showbusiness Editor

...US distributors have resolutely passed on a film which will prove hugely divisive in a country where, according to a Gallup poll conducted in February, only 39 per cent of Americans believe in the theory of evolution. Movieguide.org, an influential site which reviews films from a Christian perspective, described Darwin as the father of eugenics and denounced him as "a racist, a bigot and an 1800s naturalist whose legacy is mass murder". His "half-baked theory" directly influenced Adolf Hitler and led to "atrocities, crimes against humanity, cloning and genetic engineering", the site stated.

The film has sparked fierce debate on US Christian websites, with a typical comment dismissing evolution as "a silly theory with a serious lack of evidence to support it despite over a century of trying".

Jeremy Thomas, the Oscar-winning producer of Creation, said he was astonished that such attitudes exist 150 years after On The Origin of Species was published.

"That's what we're up against. In 2009. It's amazing," he said.

"The film has no distributor in America. It has got a deal everywhere else in the world but in the US, and it's because of what the film is about. People have been saying this is the best film they've seen all year, yet nobody in the US has picked it up.

"It is unbelievable to us that this is still a really hot potato in America. There's still a great belief that He made the world in six days. It's quite difficult for we in the UK to imagine religion in America. We live in a country which is no longer so religious. But in the US, outside of New York and LA, religion rules.

Is that right, only 39% of Americans believe in evolution?

That's pretty appalling, tbh.

Agreed...39% seems incredibly low...but I've not looked at any figures. It seems that, until this recent rise of fundamentalism, that the % was much higher...but then again...what do I know

Having religious faith and simultaneously accepting the overwhelming evidence for Darwinism (Natural selection, speciation ) are not mutually exclusive. Many people of faith are able to accept scientific truth when they see it. It's only ignorance and willful disregard for facts and data that are to be abhorred, not religion.

Somehow I think that number is a bit low... but seriously... in this day and age even if it were 90% it still would be ridiculously low for what is clear scientific evidence.

I'm actually a little stunned that so many have been taken in by this PR stunt.

Think of all the movies released in the last decade or two which openly mocks The Christian faith even with

falsehoods of history as a spring-board yet here we are asked to believe that in 2009.... suddenly a movie about DARWIN is.. too much.

I would like to see the movie myself and see if in fact the "genuine points of controversy in 2009" are present in the film, namely his findings on Race?

Of Course crowd (A) dismisses parts of darwins conclusion, they are "Backwords".

But when Crowd (B) Dismisses other parts... they are progressive.

Can you have it both-ways...... depend what crowd you are in.

If the movie can't get theatrical distribution in this country, then not many people here are going to see it...

As to your crowd A) Vs. B) rubbish - the theory of evolution might start with Darwin, but it certainly doesn't end with him.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

You are exactly right, in fact there is a large group that accept, God literally "created the earth in 6 days" because thats as the Bible explains it,

and there are others who believe that ...... Evolution theory mirrors what the Bible says ... the only "sticking point" is the reference to it being done in, 6 DAYS.

However the Bible also teaches... that to GOD "One day is like a thousand years.... and a thousand years is like one day".

The main hang-up is "Time".

MAny believe as God is not limited by an 85 year life span... (as we are) he might have took his Sweet time.

When God takes his "sweet time"... I wonder how long that might be?

At any rate there are all different approaches to this subject, I think it is laughable that this movie was unwelcome by the usual crowd who distributes Anti-Christian flicks every chance it gets but ... just won't touch this one.

Gotcha. This was a good post up to the last paragraph where you got subjective.
