Thanks for the vote of confidence although I don't need it. The promotion of creatinism is the promotion of ignorance. There is no defence for doing that in my opinion.

have you discussed that with the pope?

Catholic church has stated many times that they agree with evolution and t here's no conflict between the catholic religion and the scientific theory

The position of the Catholic Church on the theory of evolution has moved over the 150 years since the publication of Charles Darwin's Origin of Species in 1859 from a long period with no authoritative pronouncement from the Vatican, to a statement of neutrality in the 1950s, and then to more explicit acceptance in recent years. Today[update], the Church's official position remains a focus of controversy and is fairly non-specific, stating only that faith and scientific findings regarding human evolution are not in conflict, though humans are regarded as a "special creation", and that the existence of God is required to explain the spiritual component of human origins. This view falls into the spectrum of viewpoints that are grouped under the concept of theistic evolution.[1][2]

My friend you say you are Catholic, is there any position the Church teaches on that you agree with?

You expect God- or whatever manifestation of 'creation' there is to prove something to you?

That's the ultimate irony - and Douglas Adams had it right.

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God...

"...for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."

"But," says man, "the Babel Fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It proves you exist...therefore, you don't. QED."

"Oh dear," says God, "I hadn't thought of that," and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.

So you admit that you're trying to disprove God with logic.

The problem is that truth remains truth whether one believes in it or not.

The problem, Joe is that you continue to miss the point - no matter how crystal clear I try to make it.

It should be painfully obvious what I'm saying: namely that if you have faith that God exists, there's no reason whatsoever to find proof to validate it.

Most people who believe in God do feel that they have proof. Some people believe it was proof of God that sparked their faith in him. Some people see it in radio-pulonium halos, or elsewhere.

But then again, you can't get tax-payer funds for that.

Sure to some extent - but when it comes to looking for actual, tangible proof - that to me runs counter to the idea of having religious faith in the first place.

If you have a strong faith - you don't need to find physical proof of God's existence, nor does (or should) the work of scientists contradict that.

Pope Benedict has aired his views on evolution fo the first time - and says he partially believes Darwin's theories.

The Pontiff said science had narrowed the way life's origins are understood and said Christians should take a broader approach to the question.

However, he did not adopt a strictly scientific view of the origins if life, believing instead that God created life through evolution.

He said he "would not depend on faith alone to explain the whole picture".

As well as praising scientific progress, the Pope's views, published in a new book 'Schoepfung unt Evolution' (Creation and Evolution), did not endorse the creationist, or 'intelligent design' view of life's origins.

Even if the Catholic church didn't agree with Evolution.. it's not a matter of 'believing in Evolution', the facts are there, and I agree with the theory, there's mathematical proof, and that doesn't mean I'll ditch my religion..

Joseph-

So if you've read up on it you wouldn't be lame enough to mistake your grandfather for a tobacco plant. And as for organic matter- it is what it is.

Again, its not about how smart others may be- its all about you and your ignorance. ;)

See there's a problem with some little things like an arc that saved enough animals, insects and people to repopulate a cpmpletely flooded earth, a talking snake, turning water to wine (did he have a permit? haha), parting a sea...the list is long.

I mean come on people. Get real.

Besides, if you want to know the truth/secret:

We are all god.

PS No one needs to ditch their religion.

We need something to make us feel like there's a reason/purpose as to why we humans are here.

Scientists are not currently working on disproving the existence of omnipotence. Why would they? Science is about observable phenomena. Who knew?

Wait, that is what science is all about? Really? LoL, I saw a "museum" filled with "scientists" in Arizona whose sole purpose was to try to meld together the theories of creationism, evolution and Big Bang. It really was quite hilarious to see someone try to say (with a straight face) that the big bag was really God creating the universe (garden of eden) and that dinosaurs and humans (not neandrthals) lived peacefully at the same time.

Long ago and far away we all came from a rock 4.6 billion years ago. Hmmmm... I guess thats about as crazy as thinking that 8 people could populate the earth (which is mathematically possible).

Mr Joe, it is my impression that you are defending creationism despite your protestations. Are you? Is this exclamation that god is and always was enough to explain the phenomena you see around you right out into the deepest space? Perhaps there is no deep space, is that a collective hallucination?

Rock is not inert Mr Joe, there's a little hint that you might just grasp.

I am going to grab a random scientist and have that person disprove the existence of you. How do you like them apples?

It's not crazy, not so far away and IS scientifically possible ( although the 'rock' part is alittle simplistic)-you are catching on--Good on ya!!

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Science is beautiful, but there is a point where one has to stop asking why. Douglas Adams did have a point. What is the meaning of life? 42.

Well science and philosophy are not completely separate, but clearly there are a few people here who cannot tell them apart.

Once again, creationism is fundamentally political. Its political by necessity because it relies heavily (if not exclusively) on assumptions derived from literal interpretations of the Bible. T

The inevitable upshot of that is that while science works through a process of observation, hypothesis, experimentation and refinement to identify patterns in the physical world; Creationism works in precisely the opposite way. With creationism there are observations, but there is no equivalent process of hypothesising or experimentation to refine the initial ideas. Conclusions are assumed at the outset (from the Bible) and then its proponents look for evidence to validate them.

Its not really all that different to people who find value in horoscopes, the prophecies of Nostradamus (or indeed mathematical codes in the Bible) - the prose is written in such a way that people can see what they want to see in it.
