Problems with this plan-

Of course they can just come right back so I propose we brand them with a tattoo on their forehead, something like the initials I.A. (Illegal alien), this way we can more easily identify them if they return.

Also I would not be for releasing those convicted of certain violent crimes.

Would you want someone who hurt a family member to go free?

If so what message would this send to other illegal criminals still on our streets?

In fact with our borders still wide open, Illegals would basically be walking around our country with a "get out of jail" card in their pocket.

The very first step in any move to deal with illegals is to secure the border, without that any plan comes unraveled.

I can think of a list of countries that actually have pretty lax broders, but if one risked getting caught there undocumented.. one might as well send a goodbye letter home... The best way to secure the border is to enforce rules against those that violate the border (consequences)... instead of putting up a wall around my house.. I say "hey the doors unlocked dont come in unless you feel lucky... " And if I catch you... you aint lucky...

I have to question the example of leaving your doors unlocked at home.

At the border we are hardly there ( home), barely armed and certainly not prepared to shoot.

When you have two countries side by side with such diverse living standards, when you have one country who has sent perhaps tens of millions of illegals over the years, a strong physical barrier to stop it is mandatory.

I am not saying shoot people that come here.. but there needs to be some actual accoutability associated with violating the US law. Every day law enforcement identifies people that are here illegally and writes them a notice to appear... poof they are gone.... We dont do anything to really discourage people from entering illegally... there are so many people in my county that are here illegally that they had a damned parade to celebrate it and protest the government policy on immigration. They want an open door policy... If there are 1000's of people that are gathered together and are for the most part illegals, why would the government not say.. thanks for making our job easy.. show proof that you are here legally or get on the bus or plane to your home country... life ban... realistically, what would happen if the ones that are here illegally were told, if we catch you, you will be deported with a lifetime ban... get caught a second time with the lifetime ban and get 10 years hard labor... incentive to follow the immigration policies? Already here illegally and want to do the right thing? file for a waiver... 2 years probation with a fine $5,000 sounds good. and not be eligible for means tested benefits for 2 years..... but there would have to be a deadline to file for the 1 time exception waiver.. after that... no more second chances again...

In regards to my home example.. I have enough neighbors that watch for uninvited people that someone entering the home would be met with a neighbor or law enforcement.... and that has consequences associated with it.. jail time... enter a home without permission 5 years in prison....

There are plenty of public places here in the US without walls of fences that are just plain off limits... we know that if we go to the beach or a park when it is closed we are risking the consequences of violating the law.. we get caught we pay up... go hunting in a wildlife preserve (no walls or fences) and get in very serious trouble... A wall without serious consequences of being here illegally is as useless as the current system... they will find ways around it... because they know we wont do anything about it once they are here.

why are we housing illegals? we have a jet that makes runs daily to deport folks.. why not throw them OTP? Or add a few filghts to handle them? it makes no sense... This is like that damned wet foot dry foot deal.. that makes no sense either... Illegal is illegal!

back in the 50's, illegals would be turned over at the southernmost part of their country so if they wanted to come back, they had a long journey ahead of them......
