Hi Everyone,

Sorry for my long absences as of late. I just got back from Brazil with Alice. I can't even believe that she is here, seems surreal. LOL

Anyway, just wanted to report a couple of things. I went to Brazil for the interview, I was so excited, our interview was on the 21st at 7:45am. We were in front of the Consulate at 6:15am (there was already a line). We finally got in the consulate at 8:20am. The first part in the consulate were workers gathering all the materials that needed to be taken, we then waited until about 10am when the Consul started interviewing. We were both very nervous. Then out of the blue through one of the windows the Consul officer was there waving at me, and turned out he is a friend of mine. Needlessly to say, I got interviewed by another officer, but I thought it was wild. My interview was quick and to the point. In 10 minutes we were approved. Afterwards we requested an expedited delivery of the visa (in Rio you are not allowed to pick the visa up, you have to use the courier service). Last wednesday we received the envelop with her passport and visa, as well as some sealed paperwork to give at the port of entry.

We came in via Atlanta, the officer was supper friendly asked 2 questions and sent us to another room. There another officer took the sealed envelop typed something into the computer checked a couple of things, and then handed her the passport and said that she has 90 days to tie the knot. Then we grabbed our luggage, and it was scanned by a huge machine, and then we were in the US. So no hassle at all. :)

Cheers,

Luis

PS: I will slowly catch up on the posts... But I am super happy!!! :D

CONGRATS!!! I'm soooo happy for you both!!!:dance:

Ughhhh...I am still in the clouds, but starting to prepare the things for my interview. Our embassy in Croatia, in my home city Zagreb, is well known like a very professional and I hope that I will not have a problems.

Plus I applied only once for turist visa (December 16 last year) and they approved me without problem.

I called today to check for the police certificates and a lady was so nice and gave me the whole information about all the papers I need and wish me a luck. She checked if I am already in the system, but I was not, so our papers are still on a way to the NVC.

It is nice to see Luis back here... :star: I am sure Luis you are sooooo happyyy... :star:

And Krystal...only 8 days and you are with Glenoi...wau...great!

Jenn...I do not have doubts that everything will be perfect with Fuat on interview...you are a strong lady and you will do all to help him. :star:

A&D, I'm confident that things will turn out just fine; you may even beat many of the others here.

Jenn, I know your worries well because we face the same possibilites, but the only thing you can do is to think positive, take a deep breath, and hope for the best. I truly hope he gets the visa on his interview date or at least the day after.

Yeah, Kjenkins your interview is approaching fast I know you are excited.

The other medical place still isn't booking yet for April. So I am currently sitting with an April 1st appointment at the other medical place - HOPING to change it to a closer date.

Really...

Us poor east coasters...

It costs me a fortune to fly there - so even if I go now or prior to my appointment it will still cost me a fortune.

Tickets are 550+ on sale or 700 regular.

The cheapest hotel I can locate is 50$ a night..which is cheap..but for over a week stay with an April 1st appointment.. that's over 400$ - on top of that is the medical cost of 215 or 275, plus any vaccination they may decide I need, then the visa at 131, then food for over a week stay.

(yes..we all know the prices..sorry LOL)

I'm looking at near $1500 just to get montreal taken care of in the start of April. $2500 in the middle of april for my move to the states...and then whatever the total of the wedding costs at the end of April will be.

... why did they closed the medical office in Halifax in 2008.

/rant complete

lol

Thanks! I was just wondering, because the interview letter listed to bring the original divorce judgement and marriage certificate among other things...

Thanks!

ohh...then it may be different for you. in our p4 packet, they only asked for my fiance's marriage/divorce cert (in ecuador they are on the same paper). they didn't ask for that from me, just took my divorce judgement from the original petition. Probably good to check on the canada boards just to be safe.

Did you seriously already get your p4???

I HATE CANADA POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mathew still hasn't gotten his Christmas Card I sent out a month ago. His mom got hers just fine a week and a half ago. And she lives in the freaking north pole. Laval is 20 flippin minutes from Montreal and...grrrr. just grrrrrrr!!!!

He'll probably get his P4 letter the day of the interview.

F you, Canada Post. I hope someone puts wheaties in your underwear.

EDIT: After my big rant I had Mathew go check his mail. It's there. LOL. I scared them and they rushed over to put that in there!!!

And Maggie, Mathew went to Medisys and he says his medical was $213, and he got his results in 3 days. So plan for that.

lmao .. good. Yeah I got mine yesterday so I would have assumed he'd have it before or the same time as me.

I booked with Medisys.. for right now.. April 1st, 1:00pm. She told me I had to have April 1st to ensure I get the results in by April 8th Interview and that it was 215$.

I'm waiting to get in with the other place, because they only need 48 hours to get me my results, so I could book for April 5th, but their medical is 275...but I would still save money.

Well I'm sure Mathew was off by 2 dollars, so the $215 was right on that part. But when he did his they told him 72 hours. As long as you have your medical 4 days before your interview(I wouldn't risk picking up your results the same day) I don't see a problem.

I would, because if you can knock your trip down even by 2 days that would help you out money wise a lot. The other place can get them to you in 2 days, but it's 60 bucks more, which would STILL pay for an extra day at the hotel you found.

It would be very weird to me if Medisys got him his in 3 days, but took longer for yours.

Oh, and remember. The HPV vaccine is no longer required so you wont need that.

thanks, yes.. I was jumping for joy when the article came out.. I'm one of the ones that said I wouldn't be taking it even if it was still a requirement :P

I have been pushing my doc for my vaccination list. I have all my shots up to date, even the tetanus one...just need the damn list from him.

- I called the other place they still don't know if their doctor will be available but if they are I can have April 5th.

Medisys needs 3 full business days................ my appointment is on the 8th. In order to get my results by April 7th at 12 noon - I need to have an appointment April 1st.

We got the hard copy of the NOA2. David called NVC but they still didn't receive the papers from Vermont. I hope our file will come in a few days. :star:

You couldn't just have it on the 5th and pick the results up on the 7th? Wow, those people are stinkers.

If they're gonna be like that, getting the other place to do it if possible would be the best even if they are more expensive. At least you could save money on the hotel room.

I so wish you and Mathew had your interview at the same time, we could have a slumber party together and that'd really help you save. Plus, it'd just be fun!!!
