Hi VJ family, I just sent my I-130 to USCIS on August 22, 2009 and haven't received the NOA 1 yet. I know it's probably still too early. However to help things along, I want to start preparing the documents I will need to send to NVC when that time comes. My question is will NVC send the package of documents to me directly, i.e., the DS230, etc and then do I send those documents back to them? or do they send them to my hubby in his country and he sends them back? just a little worried becasue he does not read or write English at this point. So I will have to fill them out for him have him to sign before he sends them to NVC. Also what other proof do they usually ask for besides the standard birth certificate, police records, divorce papers.... thank you for your help.

Wow. Grats. You finally made that first step. First of all I suggest that you look around VisaJourney because there's TONS of information here about how to process your petition. Here is a post that will be very useful for your K3 processing :)

You might want to ask in the K1 forum for more specific information on the NVC. The process is different depending on the visa and you are asking in the CR-1 form. Good luck

the visa is for my husband, the CR-1 visa, not for K1. The info I'm seeking is the NVC process. specifically does the DS230 package come to me, the US citizen or to my hubby?

thanks for your help...

if you pay online, you can download a lot of the forms online that you need from http://www.uscis.gov.

i would suggest that you get acquainted with the forms that you guys will need to fill out by checking them out on the same site too. that way, you will be more than prepared when the real stuff comes in.

maybe you can have your spouse fill in the ds-230 now and send it to you and when it is required you can just put in the date and send it in (is that wrong?)

good luck!

Timeline:

Sent in I-130 form: 01/29/09

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

TBC....

thanks that's what i wanted to know - if I actually send the forms. I plan to try to get every thing prepared so when I get the notice I can just send the forms. I hope it's ok that I put in the date... Is the DS230 the only form that he needs to complete or are there others?

Ok, it says you filed for the K1 on your profile. If you wait for all the paper work to come to you then it takes longer. Try reading james short cut for the NVC.

I just filed for the cr1 by sending in the I130. I'm still a little confused about the difference between the k3 and CR1. I've read on this site that the CR1 (just filing the I130 without the I-129F) may be faster or just as fast.

Wait, did you file a I-129F or a I-130 ?????? Your stats show K1 but you wrote I-130 to USCIS and said Hubby.

Depending which one you filed, the documents required are all the same. Check out WIKI/NVC? Lings shortcuts, it truly helps with the NVC process and etc.

If you filed I-130 DONT file for a K3 it will slow you down. Best wishes on your journey
