Strange that one consider the sheer number of illegal immigrants in your area.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

The majority of your posts involve short bursts of sentences. You probably forget what you posted after the third word. Same with ordering, "I'll have a ...". In Charles mind: (what was I here for again, #######.."

uh no, another fail on your part.

the short sentences are because long replies are usually a wasted effort in vj ;)

So why bother posting at all?

I wish some of the likes of you could sit and do my job all day long.

I am a 'gatekeeper' for a health care facility. I take your insurance information. I call your company. I find out what your coverage is - or is not. I call you up. I tell you what will be covered and what will not. You make a decision.

If you could see the HUGE disparities in coverage - you would be nauseous. And it goes WAY beyond 100% coverage or 90/10 or 80/20. I see no deductibles; $250 deductibles; $1500 dedutibles; $6000 deductibles. I see out-of-pocket expenses as high as $10000. I see visit limits. I see restrictions as to the diagnosis code. I see pre-existing periods. I see PER DAY limits as to what a company will pay for a certain service. I see TOTAL CASH payouts a company will pay for a single diagnosis. I see annual maximums and lifetime maximums. I see no coverage at all for certain types of services. The list goes on and on.

I wonder as I work all day long what these people are paying as their contribution of the premium. I hear the cracking in their voice as they decline service. I file their paperwork away in an expandable folder in my desk drawer in case they change their mind. They don't. After the folder gets too heavy for me to lift, I take the paperwork to Medical Records where they retain it for a year or so. Eventually it gets destroyed.

Some evenings I come home from work with my heart so heavy.

To those of you who would call this system "capitalism" and a fine example of competition in America - I have nothing but loathing for your opinion. This is serfdom and servitude - these people are prisoners of the policies selected by their employers. This is a horror inflicted upon the American people.

How any of you can wash your hands of the uninsured and under-insured is sickening to me.

The people who are against reform are either ill-informed about the reality of what is going on or they are just heartless bastards. Maybe doctors should show them the same compassion they show others and refuse to treat them. Those types are not the one's slaving away in labs trying to find cures either. Instead they just want to mouth off bull ####### based on their opinion of what is better.

First amendment is all good and well but not when it overrides logic and discussion. Furthermore, becomes the basis of forming decisions.

I don't see where the doctor was telling the woman to suck it up, however, what is said was ridiculous coming from a medical professional. This woman was asking about specific sort of rehabilitation help. I am sorry but I don't know too many people with neighbors that are speech pathologists or rehabilitation experts. Do you? She never said anything about help in the form you could get from family, friends or neighbors. She was talking about PROFESSIONAL help that her insurance won't pay for.

Did anyone read rebecajo's post? I believe she contributed the best one to this thread. At least she has first hand knowledge of alot of the problems with our current system. I know alot of you don't like the healthcare bill. So what is the right way to tackle the issue of healthcare reform?

God bless you, and I'm an atheist.

Thank you for telling how it is. People like danno tend not to believe /us/, mere users of the healthcare system (waiting for my donations btw)...but this is it. Thank you.

Universal healthcare mister bill? I thought you were a conservative. Now while this would be one of my ideal ways to tackle the issue, I don't think most of the right and alot of the middle will go for it. So what is the compromise that will allow for REAL reform and make healthcare more affordable to those that either don't have insurance through employers or can't afford insurance?

I'm more complicated than that. I am more of a pragmatist. Healthcare has only recently been privatized in our history. Healthcare should be right there with a public education, fire services, and police protection. Healthcare already has heavy interaction with all three. Seems like a good fit to me, as a pragmatist.

Eric, is that you?

I am still waiting on one single comment from someone against the reform proposed that is logical. Just one.

All I have heard is:

  • government is bad, however, I am still waiting on what and how the alternative is better.
  • Some sort of death panel theory - Unlike the health insurance boards, who as we speak actually get to decide on which treatment or procedure they do or do not cover. Many of which lead to the death of someone.
  • That it will turn into NHS - regardless of the 1,000 pages stating it's a single policy to cover the uninsured. Nope the document is wrong the critics know better.
  • The current system is the best - because you say so of course.
  • It will bankrupt the system - regardless of the fact the one of the largest expenses for an American family is health care cost.

You will like Eric. I will PM you the website address. He wants you.

No he is Eric lite and couldn't even feel his jock strap. Wannabe.
