Hi everyone i called DOS two different times today and i was informed that my husbands case is still at the embassy, they didnt send his file anywhere, so i guess his ap is at the embassy level, now i understand why they called him and questioned him, the lady from DOS also informed me that it was a background check. I told her how they called my husband and asked him a variety of questions and i asked her does that help the ap--she said yes because it means their working on the case trying to complete it as soon as possible and that i can call back anytime to check his status and to find out when its in its final stages. My relief is that its still at the emabassy. Has anyone ever had an ap at the embassy level and how long did it take?????

good luck everyone

We had AP at the embassy level. It's actually very common. Just be patient. Sometimes it can take weeks, other times it can take months or years. I e-mailed and called the embassy once a week (sometimes every two days!) just for status updates along with calling the DOS. Our AP lasted about 6 weeks, however we did both interviews for the K3 and the CR1 so we actually waited to receive the visa until after the CR1 interview. The AP after the CR1 interview was only 2 weeks.

Hang in there! It's completely normal!
