Do the instructions not ask you to return it (to USCIS)?

Which Instructions ? The only thing I got with my GC was my responsibilities as a PR. Nothing on it says anything about the old GC. Should it be returned to USCIS?

No don't return it. I would just file it as a keepsake. The old one is expired anyway so not useful for anyone.

Thanks ! I was just worried that if there is a "law" to return the expired GC then I should do it. Don't want it as a hindrance when I apply for Citizenship. But yeah I would just file it with other papers. Thanks for the reply !!

Yep, I just kept mine as a souvenir:-). I will have to give up my 10 year card when I take my oath the end of this month though. Too bad - the photograph on the 10 year card is really nice and the one of the two year card is horrible.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I got my 10 GC now. Just out of curiosity what do we do with the old GC ? Please advice !!

They told me to return it to the closest immigration office or to give it back to an immigration officer next time I travel outside the United States. The officer at the airport said "no souvenirs" :)

Exactly like mine - I also like the photo at my 10year GC better than the one at the 2year GC.

Whatever, I'll make a copy of my 10year card before the oath ceremony.

Anyway, I didn't turn in my old GC either - I didn't read anything about returning it to USCIS. :star:
