It's officially Friday in Cairo [12:08 AM CLT] Just wanted to stop by and say I wish each and everyone of you had/ is having a really good day. :star:

What a sweet thing to say, and I am wishing you one right back. :luv:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Aya...I have a somewhat crazy question for you. There are tampons in Egypt, correct? Do many women use them? I'll tell you why in a few minutes.

Hmmmm....interesting question Tasha. I remember growing up back in Poland how we rarely could even get regular pads...never heard of tampons till I got to US back in '91...However once I tried them, I was hooked... Not that anybody cares and it's definitely TMI but I felt like sharing LOL I better go now before I start talking more nonsense LOL

Olivia, glad you made it home safe. Sorry we never got to meet up while you were here.

Hope the rest of the process goes quickly for you both.

Talking about the visa - you just mean for a visitor visa right? You were saying residency visa in your post, which is different than a one month tourist visa.

We got a 3 months stamp, actually she put it down for 4 months, but I have to go in the next month or so to get the 2+ year residency visa.

I think I wore my Grandma out with all the pictures and wedding videos.

It's definitely not a tourist visa and it was a one month stamp upon entry. I've never heard of a visitor visa.

Waleed and I were very concerned at first about me being there for 85 days and wanting to make sure I had the correct thing for my passport so we went to several immigration offices asking the same questions each time. Basically the immigration places in Cairo, 6th of October, and Hurghada all said the same thing to my Husband and that is that I never have to purchase another stamp or visa of any kind again unless I want to show proof in the future to become an egyptian citizen. That as long as I have my marriage papers I only have to show that to passport control and I am good to go. My entry stamp and my departure stamp are my visas in my passport and are both stamps that are saying "Wife of an Egyptian" and I never had to pay a thing ever and there was never any hassle when I showed them my marriage papers.

Thanks for the welcome back everyone. Now Mom is calling me to help her move things around her new house. :D

Well, my husband and I had this conversation today. He had never seen one until he saw a box of them in the bathroom. He went on to say how he didn't feel it was "normal" to wear something like that. That if I brought that to Egypt all of the women would say it looked like something else and they wouldn't use it. I went on to fight for why I think it works and I still don't think he listened to me. I just wanted to prove that they had them there.

 Yes there are tampons on Egypt! My Husband went to a Pharmacy to get my tampons and the Pharmacist said to him, "So you have a foreign wife." Waleed was so embarrassed of course that the Pharmacist knew this right off. We couldn't find them at the Pharmacies in the less populated places or places where tourists weren't. My Hubby thinks tampons are more economical then pads now that he's discovered them.

Yes Mom's putting me to work already and she's coming into the room now to get me off the internet and get going so I really better go now. TTYL!

Welcome back Olivia, you been missed around here past few days without ya.

And yep, Olivia is right, Tasha. Egypt has tampons. My sister in law and I were at Carrefour in Maadi once and we walked passed the "feminine products" isle. All I could see was pads, so I was like "where in the world are the tampons?" She looked at me in horror and asked if I really stick those "things" in me  Well we found them, but there were like 6 boxes compared to the hundreds of boxes of pads. Obviously they aren't into them there.

LMAO. <<disclaimer : I have told this story before>>

This reminds me of the time my husband stopped at the store and picked me up a box of tampons, and true to himself strayed down the candy isle. So there he was in the checkout isle - a myriad of chocolates and a box of tampons. The cashier turned to him and said "awwwww, you got her chocolates too!".
