i couldnt find one, but i may just be going crazy...

is there an example form that i can show my parents (who are our co-sponsors) for the affidavit of support they must fill out?

my affidavit answers were different from what i thought they should be (thanks for helping out everyone! no matter how i questioned), so i want to make certain my parents get everything right, as our interview is coming up.

thanks!

For the I-134?

Check the guides - example forms

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

right but that's for if you are the sponsor for your fiancee.

and on the paperwork it asks what the relationship to the sponsor is. which doesn't make any sense because the person filling out the form IS the sponsor.

i'm so confused :\

Don't overthink the question -

relationship could be "friend", "future family member", "none".

Friend. Future mother/father-in-law. Co-worker. Those are some possible responses to the relationship question.

YOU are the "sponsor". YOU will always be the sponsor. THEY are co-sponsor. What is THEIR relationship to YOU? "Parent of sponsor/petitioner"

The I-134 is a single person document. Only one of your parents can sponsor, so choose the one with highest income (if they both have income) IF they both have income then the other parent does NOT count in "family size" but any other dependent children WOULD count in family size. Dependent children are any children claimed on the 2008 tax return. IF only one has income then the other counts in the family size along with your fiance. YOU do not count in family size. If they filed a joint return (most likely) then only one person's income counts and needs to be verified (w-2 for that parent and/or 1099s or schedule C) plus employment letter (optional) and/or check stubs. They also need to provide proof they are a US citizen or legal permanent resident (YOU already did that with the petition, they did not)

my mother does not make any income, my father makes well-above the 125% poverty limit for my mother, me, my brother and my fiancee.

He should enter the names of all those who are listed as dependents on his latest income tax return. Mom should be included based on what you have stated regarding her income.

None of the above matters. Are you listed as a dependent on their TAX RETURN? If YES, you are a dependent. If NO, you are not.

Provided you are not a dependent on thier tax return...

Your father's family size is 4. Himself, your mother, your brother and your fiance. If you are a dependent on his 2008 tax return, then his family size is 5. Your family size for your I-134 is 2.
