No.. The Republic of Kenya didn't exist in 1961.

Indeed, Kenya became independent from the United Kingdom December 12, 1963 while the Republic declared December 12, 1964.

So I assume that would make this "real birth certificate" fake?

God, I hope not.

God I hope not too. Colin Powell, hey it could happen.

Somebody was telling me that on the document it says Republic of Kenya in 1964 and that according to Wikipedia Kenya wasn't a republic at that time. I don't know though I haven't done my homework yet. Thoughts?
