Oh, here's another one. 2 summers ago it was raining really bad and the Main St part of Bound Brook (a town near me with a flooding problem) was under water. I didn't know there was a closure so I tried to drive into it and when I got to the closed road a fat ** in uniform yelled "get the ** out of my town!" and pointed his finger in the direction of the detour. Thanks to him pointing me in the right direction, I got to work no more than 5 minutes late.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Earlier this year - dark night, driving home from the office in the rain, full of horrible flu, just wishing to get home and go to bed. Suddenly my tire blows out, manage to control the car, and get it on to a side street, tire irreperable. Try to call my husband a few times no answer. Got the jack out of the trunk, and squat down in the rain trying to figure out how to get the wheel cover thingy off, no strength in my arms at all to try to lever it off (you know how crappy you feel when you have flu). Car pulls up next to me, for a second I was worried, then I saw his uniform. Off duty HPD officer on his way to a memorial service for a fallen officer, stopped and jacked up the car and changed the tire. I've never been so grateful in my life (F)

Let's see if what looking_up said here is true:

Well bad behavior attracts the media, so many good things going on in our communities by the law enforcement that will not get reported unfortunatly.

Oh its true. ;)

Not a lot of good stories so far... one story about a cop gratuitously checking ID ("papers, please"),

another story about a cop grunting and reluctantly pointing his finger.

he could have pushed a public indecency ... totally interrupted (stopped) the moment, etc. Instead it was ... carry on.

I've got other stories ... good ones too. Though i'll not repeat here or everyone will see the horns that support my halo

Not had a bad experience in dealing with LEO's. They've all been courteous and professional. I've found that being polite and knowing your rights goes a l-o-n-g way toward preventing issues (okay I'll admit I dated a LEO Sgt's daughter for a few years and I worked with LEOs for a bunch of years as well. guess I learned something)

I was still living in California, back in 2007. I was on my way home driving back from the airport where I had just dropped my fiance off (he was going to NY, from where he was going to his 15 month deployment in Iraq). Because of that, I was crying a lot in the car. I stopped the car because of a red light, there was a police car on the lane on my left side. He signed, telling me to open the windows, I did, he asked me if I was ok, I said yes. He insisted, asking if anyone had done anything to me (yes, I was a ##### and was crying and sobbing like crazy), I said no and told him why I was crying, of course in a super short way. He said "I'm sorry" and and wished me a better day. So sweet.

So you truly believe that most cops are bad. Your pointing to all these bad cop examples and starting this thread leads me to believe that is the point your trying to get at, correct me if I am wrong. Well I think most would disagree with you and say most cops are good.

One Friday night when I was about 22, I was home alone, passing time smoking (ya know) and playing computer games. Or what passed for computer games on an early 90s computer. Moments after a particularly athletic inhalation, there was a knock on the door. I was more than a little freaked when I saw a cop standing there. I opened the door and watched helplessly as a skunky cloud made its way outside and presumably right up his nostrils.

I was all set to extend my arms for the cuffs, but he only grinned and said he was looking for Ken, my neighbor. (I lived in a former firehouse that had been converted into three apartments, so figuring out which unit was which could be a project.) Ken owned a small ice cream shop near campus that had been broken into, and the cop came by to notify him.

After I let the cop know that Ken in fact lived in the apartment next door, he told me to have a nice night, and off he went.

Yay!

The cops in our town are pretty cool.

Fill out a uniform pretty nicely too.

Skip, Eric and Jeff are firm favourites of ours at the bank. Very firm. Nice uniforms.

I lived in an apartment complex a few years ago, my wife car got banged on the left Fender, I could see the pain residue from the car that hit it. We called the cops and made a police report.

A little detective work, I couldn't find a car that matches that yellow colour, After about a week, I noticed this car parked next to us, never paid much attention since it was a Gray colour.

I was on the way down to the laundry and I noticed his left fender got banged up, When I looked closer I could see my wife's car paint on his car, and also, His car original colour is RED, that's what got us Fool all this time We were looking in the complex for a yellow car but it was actually a Gray Car.

I found out who that ####### was, he was a cab driver, and maybe he was drunk or something, but just tried to walk away like that was really foul, very upsetting.

When the cop came and we found out who he was, it was basically a hit an run charge, and this guy livelyhood is from this car, since he's a taxi driver.

He was crying, promise to repair the car and the Cop told him, to make sure you fix their car, and he gave me his badge and phone numbers, and said if there's any problem just call me.

I thought that was nice, even though i didn't know the guy, but since we were neighbor, I just wanted to get my car fixed. So the guy gave us a rental car while the Taxi mechanic Garage shop fixed our car.

Great break the cop gave him

Ah, high school days....5 of us, packed into my friends car. Two in the front seat, three in the back seat. Poking smot...er...yeah...we had the car so smoked out, we (in the back seat) couldn't see them (in the front seat). Parked at around midnight in a little neighborhood park. We DID see the bright headlights and red roof lights that came shining in brightly through the passengers (Karen's) window though. We said...'DON'T ROLL DOWN YOUR WINDOW KAREN!" So of course she rolled down her window. Smoke POURED over the cop car. Now, let's remember, back when I was in high school, ya still went to jail, or at least juvenile hall for that...or at the VERY least, had your parents called to haul you out of the holding tank at the police station. The cops, came through the smoke, to the now open window. Sniffed loudly a few times and said, "You kids KNOW this park is closed at 10?" "No Sir! We didn't." He said, "I suggest you get on your way then."

Oh to say we hauled #### outta there would have been a gross understatement.
