Hi guys.

I just wondered if any you use any particular phonecard/telephony service that offers a reasonable tariff for calls to the UK mobiles/cellphones. Not everybody I know (believe it or not) has adequate access to a computer and just wondered if any have you have used any particular telephone carriers/phonecards which have saved the pennies. Thanks in advance of your help with this.

Sincerely,

Paul.\

I just bought a really cheap pre pay mobile and bought minutes on it...it works really well for such a cheap phone too. But I am sure someone can advise better on phone companies and tariffs etc ....good luck!

I am a big advocate of "3" s support of skype on their phones. (And NO i am not affiliated with them but just a very happy customer)

You get unlimited air time ( in reality that means about 4000 mins a month ) you get MSN messenger and other stuff for free

with a cheapo PAYG phone. I have been using an INQ1 for ages you dont even need to spend their £5 a month for a data plan.

It means (for me) my sweetheart in the states can call me when I am away from my computer on skype for nothing and we can chat

for hours. This also works for mobile to mobile calls ( that should read skype mobile to skype mobile) too. And if the person is in another country it will also support "skype out" so you can call cells in the USA ( for example ) for pennies per minute.

Their web site is making a big deal about this so might be worth going to take a look see. No need to spend a fortune on phones or contracts either. I think the INQ1 is down to about 60 pounds new. but a lot of their range of handsets support skype and MSN plus other goodies like twitter, facebook etc.

Absolute bargain.

I use Vonage to phone back home and have a virtual local back home number (in addition to my local Florida number) that people back home can call for the same price as a local call. I don't normally phone mobiles but do phone landlines.. all in including taxes and the virtual back home number it costs around $39 per month. I've got it setup so it'll forward to my mobile here in the US after a few rings so if someone back home calls my Vonage number they can go right to my mobile here and it'll only cost me minutes on my mobile.

It's actually decent quality believe it or not as long as the internet connection is half way decent! Example first got it on cable, worked fine.. moved to a heavier populated area and my cable connection was bogged down more users = less bandwidth and no phone calls for me... switched to naked DSL for $60 a month for a 10MB line and everything with Vonage is perfect.
