Hi

I need advice. May be someone already went through this.

My husband has interview for K-3 August 4th.

Yesterday I received email about his CR-1 interview date....September 30th!!!!

We are in shock! We didn't see each other already for 313 days.

NVC will mail our case to Embassy probably tomorrow, so they will get it Friday.

What we have to do to change K-3 to CR-1?

Paper work definitely will be there.

Thank you,

Svetlana.

Not all embassies can switch the date, have you tried e-mailing them to inquire?

Good luck.

you certainly need to talk to Moscow about this.... they are the only one who can make this change. Some consulates will while others will not

YMMV

How "talk"? Email them? Should I wait for at least NVC mail all paper work to Embassy?

e-mail is certainly one option.... telephone is another. Probably a good idea if the I-130 is in Moscow before inquiry is made.

YMMV

There's also the theory that you should not say anything to the embassy about the CR-1 and just show up for the K-3 interview; because the immigrant visa will be available to you (the CR-1 paperwork will all be there) they'd have to interview you for the CR-1.

The reasoning behind that one is that sometimes when you contact the embassy to ask for the flip they'll say, "Oh no, we've cancelled your K-3 interview then. You'll just come in for the CR-1 later." You won't even get the option to choose to interview for the K-3. I can't remember who recommended not informing the embassy- I think it was pushbrk or Ling Ling.

It really comes down to the embassy so a safer bet would be to ask around the Russia forum to see if anyone has tried. Then you'll have a better idea of their policy before you decide whether to contact them.

Naturalization

N-400 package mailed: 04/16/2013

N-400 package delivered: 04/16/2013

NOA1 date: 04/17/2013

Biometrics: 08/23/2013

Interview: 10/07/2013

Oath: 01/23/2014

DONE!
