Hello again,

I noticed that the instructions for the I-129F tell me to answer all questions fully and accurately, and to fill in items that are not applicable with "N/A"

However, the form has some questions that you only need to answer under certain circumstances. Like, it asks to fill in a question only if I am in the armed forces. Or, it asks to answer a question if my fiancee is currently in the United States.

Can I leave these conditional questions blank, or do I have to fill in every single blank space on this form with N/A, if it is something that does not apply to my situation?

I just want to make sure I do it right, because I know that the people reviewing this form will probably be quite picky about how it is filled out.

Thanks,

CM178

Yes, you have to answer every single question. I guess the instructions are pretty straightforward. Like you said answer all questions fully and accurately, fill in items that are not applicable with N/A

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

You asked and answered your own question. It the question doesn't apply, its N/A. If you don't have one, its None.

If you fail to fill in all the blanks, and the USCIS officer reveiwing your application is unsure if you forgot to answer the question, you will get a RFE and delay your case.

I guess you should fill in all blanks with N/A if it doesn't apply. I followed the example form on www.***removed*** and they left the armed forces question blank. I wonder what will happen with my petition? because I left it blank as well.

When the answer is NONE, you put NONE, when it doesn´t apply to you (rarely) you put N/A.

CM,

I suggest that you answer every question. I further suggest that when you feel a question is not applicable rather than answer 'N/A' put down a few words that show why the question is not applicable. For example, on the question about being in the armed forces you might write 'never in the armed forces'.

One should not leave a question blank as there has been many RFE's for doing such.

aussiewench,

Agreed, and the history of RFEs also tends to indicate that the USCIS likewise prefers not to speculate as to why a particular question was not applicable.
