hello to everyone here in vj.... sorry if i didnt update any of my timeline... 1st n formost tenkyu 4 every details i got in this site... it rily helps me a lot. now im already here in US n got married with hubby 5 days ago... we are about to start collecting documents for our AOS but were a little confused. one of his frend who came here also with a K1 VISA didnt go to usual steps dat was here in VJ as a guide... he didnt apply for d AOS rather after he got his SSN he ask for a working permit and thats it!!! but the thing is that the beneficiary is a MALE... so does that matter in applying for the AOS or everyone needs to follow all the guide... oh... now that guy is holding a green card for 10 years already... thanks a lot... waiting for your response here... The guy is either lying or not fully aware of what he did. If he came to the US with a K1 visa and now has a 10 year green card he had to not only have had to file for AOS like everyone else, but two years later he had to Remove Conditions on the first green card he received.

So in summary, you have to file for AOS if you want to get a green card, period. As the guides say, you will need to file form I-485 to do so and if you want a work permit you can also file form I-765 along with it so you can work while your permanent residency is approved. Either way, you still have to pay $1,010.

You can apply for work permit only. But if he did that, he would not have gotten a greencard from that. To get a GC, you must apply for AOS if you are a K1, male or female.
