Hi my name is Rob and I'm from the UK, my fiance is from America(TX). We have just finished assembling our I-129F package and our almost ready to mail it. Our problem is with the payment though. My fiance is unable to pay for the visa using her American Bank/s and she is over here now with me in the UK. So I will have to pay for the visa from my UK bank. I know my bank will allow me to have an Electronic Check made out in U.S. Dollars to the U.S. Homeland Security since that would be the only way I could pay for the visa from the UK. When my fiance called the USCIS Vermont Service Center, she spoke with a lady whom she explained how she wasn't able to pay for the visa with her american bank and was wondering if they would allow us to send the electronic check, made out in U.S. Dollars from my UK bank as a form of payment. The lady at the USCIS told my fiance that that would be fine and that they would accept it as long as it was $455. (the check would be electronically made out to u.s. department of homeland security in $455 american dollars) My problem now is that I keep reading on the internet where people are saying that it can only be from an American bank and that they don't accept electronic checks. So my question to all of you is do you know if the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/USCIS will take electronic checks from my bank even though I am from the UK??? Please let us know bc it is confusing when the lady who works at the USCIS(where we will send this packet to) tells us it is okay, yet we read some things where some people are saying it isn't ok.

Thanks!

Rob.

When you mean electronic check, you mean an ACH payment, wire transfer, etc.?

I believe that your payment must PHYSICALLY be attached to your application.

I don't believe that there is a way that USCIS can match an electronic payment to a pending application for a I-129F

your case number is not assigned until your application is received along with your payment, get it, catch 22.

If this is the case, and if I'm not wrong, either find a US bank that can provide a paper payment to send with your application or send the package to a friend or relative in the US who can then attach a payment to your application.

Hope this helps

I wonder if its possible for your wife to contact someone in the US( relative or good friend) and have the package( I -129F) shipped to them , wire the money to their account( 455) and have them write a check to USCIS . Just a thought

This is the solution alright but it's time to get the terminology right. You aren't paying for a visa. You are paying a petition filing fee. You are not submitting an application for anything. You are filing a petition. When you actually pay the visa fee (pay for the visa) much later in the process, it will be in the UK with local currency.
