I am confused.Isnt the k-3- $455 and I30_ $355?

The total cost hes charged me was 4,005!! Im confused.I just wrote to get a break down of the charges, ill let you know today what they say.... How much did anyone else pay for a K-3?

You must have serious problems when you are hiring a lawyer.

Send yourself K-1 withdrawal to the Service center that you sent the original petiton to. Cost is free just make sure to include the original approval notice NOA-2 so they can match your file.

Then, since you are married, you yourself file I-130 and follow through to get the CR-1 visa (I-130 is $355 for petition, then $70 for I-864 processing and another $380 for visa issuance). Your spouse will be paying for medical, vaccinations if any are needed and obtaining paperwork for interview - police certificates...

DO NOT go for K-3 visa as it is a waste of money (AOS costs $1010).

If I were you, and there are no big issues with your spouse (criminal background, drug use...) I'd fire the lawyer and do everything myself - people on VJ are helpful. Lawyer will just have you get all the paperwork and charge you for filling out simple forms!

I'd do it for half what the lawyer is charging

Here is a "freebie". I-129F for K-3 is "fee waived" after submitting and paying for the I-130.

You got the fees for the k3 above.

It sounds like the "lawyer fees" are what is adding up..not so much the FILING fees. He's making a killing off of you.

Good Luck

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

My hubby hired a lawyer , he paid $2000+ for filing I-130 and I-129F ( fee was waived), all inclusive, he was the one who sent necessary docs for my signature .

Thankyou all!!

I just called my lawyer,he told me that to file the k-3 would take 2 months less. And to also file the I-30 cause it takes longer 2 months more.My husband got denied in 2007,but got reafirmed.I got the letter stating it was going back to state department for action. And being sent back to embassy.I got tired of waiting forthe proof of realtionship letter, instead I the affirmed letter from them. All you say I need to do is withdraw the k-1? Hes telling me he will try to lonk the k-1 to the k-3 so I dont have to do all the paper work again, but Im doing it anyways.I dont know what kind of lettter hes says hell write to the state department but I think its the withdraw letter and explaining to them why we are filing for k-3.He said he going to explain to them why we got married. Is this really necessary? Also, his secretary is dong all the papers for me.I just hired him yesterday,he charged me 1200 for retainer. If I fire him,so he have to give me all my money back?I ask secretary if she did anything yet and she said no.Thanks

They are individual and separate petitions... AFAIK, no linkage is possible

YMMV
