--so u were done on ur interview right..?i just wanna ask something..my interview date is near..is it gonna be a problem if i dont bring original copy of my birth certificate..?i really cant get original copy back in our country cuz u know there still flood in manila..and its gonna be weeks after i receive it..

--when i filed my AOS i sent them the copy of my birth certificate..just a copy..so do u think its gonna be a problem if dont have the original..?

I am afraid it might be a problem, they asked me for the original of my BC as well as the original of my husband's BC

oh gosh..this is a serious problem..cant hold of my family now..what i'm gonna do..? :(:crying:

IF they ask about it, they make just issue you a RFE for it at the interview. Remember, they don't ask everyone the same questions.

They never asked my husband for his, nor me. I think if you explain why you couldn't obtain one in time for your interview, they'll understand.

Well we had the interview yesterday and what a bizarre experience it was.

Entering the building was like meeting the worst barkers the TSA employs and they were all having a bad dad. OK It is a federal building so you expect a level of security but someone needs to tell the contracted security people that shouting louder at people who speak little English does not make them understand what you are saying all of a sudden. Frustrated as I was by the guy in front of me who held everyone up by not understanding what he was being told to do I could not help but feel sorry for him.

Once in the building we waited almost an hour after our appointed time before we were called in. The waiting room was packed so if this is during a period of slow immigration I can only guess how bad it is when the place gets busy.

The officer that interviewed us was difficult to understand. She was of far eastern origin and spoke very softly and with a thick accent. She was very very to the point with no social interaction at all or anything other than officialdom. I may be wrong but we both had the impression that she was pretty new at the job as she seemed very slow and deliberate almost as if she was checking herself to make sure she did not miss anything.

She went through the oath, the normal have you ever questions, looked at our wedding album, tax returns and other evidence. Then she threw us for a loop by asking me to leave and go wait outside.

This appeared to be the SOP for the day as everyone else was also being separated. I had read of Stokes type interviews and definitely did not expect to be subjected to that type of questioning but it is what it is. I did not have to wait long maybe 10 minutes then we swapped places.

The questions were easy enough and did not cause a problem, draw a plan of your bedroom, what side of the bed do you each sleep on, what color are the carpets, what sort of windows are in the bedroom what sort of blinds and what color curtains, what was the last TV show you both watched together. How many bedrroms do you have who sleeps in each one.

She then asked describe what you did last weekend each day for Friday Saturday and Sunday.

I am sure she asked a few other minor things but I do not remember them. Obviously our answers matched. We have been married and living together for 3 years in fact our anniversary was the day before interview so it didn't phase me that much but I can imagine that perhaps a more recently married couple would find them a little unsettling.

And that was it - I did not even know the interview was over until she said a perfunctory you can go now. I asked what happens now she said you will hear within 30 days. If they deny you they will write and say why, if they approve you then you will get your green card in the mail. I asked if she did not tell us now if we were approved. She said no you will get a letter, but I do not think you have any problems.

She did keep my I - 94 which she had removed from my passport earlier.

SO there you have it folks, we know no more than we did last week. So the wait begins.

CONGRATS TO ALL THE RECENT GC APPROVALS! I was going to quote and congratulate everyone and then started scrolling and realized how many there were! lol...so congrats to everyone! Happy to see so many coming through!

I left the US yesterday, came to Canada for Thanksgiving weekend! I came on my AP, cause even though my GC was approved, it has not arrived in the mail yet. I have a question. The AP is good, even if your GC is approved right? It's good for a year? It does not get voided as soon as your GC is approved right? I hope not, cause I had to leave before I rec'd my GC in the mail...I would hate to try and go back on Monday and have problems lol...

Hey you guys what's going on?

Happy to hear that most of you have gotten your green cards.!

Congratulations to you all!!:)

My wife had our baby on September 30,2009 at 11:37p.m in Laguna Hills, California.

She delivered the baby right before October 7 AOS interview.

My interview will be October 7, 2009 at 9:35 p.m at the Santa Ana USCIS office.

I will host how it went for me that day.

PLEASE WISH ME GOOD LUCK!

THANK YOU. LOVE YOU ALL!

Congrats on the baby!!!

It sounds like she may have been new...maybe it is an approval, but because she is new, she has to get a sign off on her work, from someone more senior? I'm gonna rub my crystal ball and say that you will get an approval email within 5 business days. I am usually pretty good with my spidey senses lol...tell me if i'm right! lol
