Now that Episodes I-III have been made after Episodes IV-VI. What viewing order would you recommend?

The ones made first by George Lucas IV-VI and then the more recent ones made I-III

or view them

In order of the books I-VI?

I'd recommend watching the IV and V (Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back) and then you'll really see why so many can't stand I, II and III. Empire Strikes Back was the best directed, IMO.

The production order. I think that is usually the best way to watch (or read) prequels.

The most critics and I agree with that assessment. Quiz someone on great lines from the movies and many can remember a few from the first three movies and very little from the last three.

I liked the original first 3 Star Wars movies.. I hated the ones they come out with awhile back with the extended and extra scenes..

I have only watched the first one of the newer ones though.. didn't much like it and had no desire to see any of the others...

I am more of a Star Trek and Stargate girl though.. can't wait for the new Stargate TV show to start

Yeah the "Special Editions" don't hold up very well now, the CGI is actually more noticeable than the original effects. The subtle stuff works (like a window appearing where there didn't used to be), but the Mos Eisley stuff in Ep 4 looks terrible. They didn't even fix the obvious stuff - like the lightsabers casting a shadow on the floor from the sticks they used.

What really sucks is that they did a Special Special Edition for the DVD release that inserted that wanker Hayden Christenson into the end of ROTJ.

I would suggest watching 4,5 and 6 ONLY. Three words that almost ruined this entire franchise... Jar Jar Binks. There is an "unauthorized" edited version of the movie available somewhere that has edited out Jar Jar. This version is quite acceptable. I would search for it, but i'm sure the mods would suspend me for posting the link.
