By asking preposterous hypothetical questions, you deserve preposterous hypothetical answers.

If the builder's name was Sheldon Smithey, and he had a plastic surgery job to mimic Michael Jackson, and could do a perfect moonwalk --- then yes, I would buy the house from him under the terms you suggest.

Otherwise - no, I would tell him to go stuff it.

I don't like the way alot of companies do business, I don't share their philosophies. I do not see myself as a prejudiced person at all with regards to anything, really. It's a house at a bargain price nothing more to me...If I liked the house, the street and it was a smart financial move-then yes, I would buy it. It's not that I share his opinion, or don't care--but that other people's opinions and prejudices ( the builder) or the way they choose to live their lives ( the homosexuals) is not up to me to change nor will I try to..... They can all do their thing, I'll do mine....And if I get a great deal on some real estate-great!

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

But that's power of consumer choice. What if the builder wanted a 'Whites Only' neighborhood, are you going to not be influenced by that?

I answered yes on SkinnyAir.....It wasn't discriminatory-it was wanting all of the seat I pay for and to be as comfy as possible while flying.

I answer yes to this too. Not because of discrimination, but because I like the house and I can cut a $$ deal with the builder and mortgage broker. I would live in a street of gay people if I liked the area and layout of the house and I got the same discounts (50% off and reduced % on mortgage).

Just because the builder is a dickwad-no reason why I can't gouge him on discounts that benefit me from it.

You're supporting his business though.

If the 50% discount and 1% rate cut was a family's only shot at home ownership, I wouldn't judge them taking the offer. Besides, the neighborhood that results will be full of straight people, not exactly scary. It's not like he's only selling to felons.

How do you know???? Maybe some of those heterosexual couples are into drug dealing n' #######.....

Key word: 'only'

He's not targeting felons. Any that end up there will do so by happenstance.

The only thing by 'design' will be the exclusion of homosexuals. Which, in and of itself, will not make for an unsafe or unattractive neighborhood.

Gays have more attractively groomed yards and neighborhoods. Everyone knows that.

The builder can sell to white people exclusively, resales (I assume) can be to anyone. So what's the big deal? I can't buy from the builder but I can buy from you.

Because that kind of discrimination is an infringement on our constitutional rights.

But that's power of consumer choice. ........

You said 'supporting his business" the key word there for me is BUSINESS.

--I would hazard a guess that if I knew all the deep dark secrets/prejudices/scams or whatever for lots of business I wouldn't agree with them personally either-but-it is business. If that house that the builder has is one I want-I'm going to buy it and at a discount. That's BUSINESS, it's nothing personal ( thanks Donald Trump).

If the builder is predjudiced against homosexuals. That's HIS CHOICE...it's not my POV. My POV is a nice house at a good price that will do well on resale.

You said "choice".....People's POV is not up to me to change.... and it's unlikely it would change even if I tried. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind or POV here, either. ....Like you said it's a CHOICE...and MY PERSONAL choice I would still buy the house because it's a good deal..Maybe your CHOICE would be that you wouldn't buy it-and that's OK too. :) I'm not going to try and change your mind about that either.

CHOICE-what a wonderful thing!
