White House senior adviser David Axelrod says President Barack Obama would like to have a public option – or government-run insurance plan – as part of a health reform package, but will not insist on it.

“We've not gotten as far as we've gotten by drawing bright lines in the sand,” Axelrod said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

...

Republican strategist Mike Murphy called that "a huge concession."

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

what's more important, passing a bill or achieving true reform?

Sorta depends on what you see the endgame as. Problem is, you got a maze of lawmakers to navigate the bill through, from Chris Dodd who is bought and sold by the insurance companies, to Henry Waxman who sees a boogyman under every rock. The only one making any sense is a loony self-professed commie from Vermont, Bernie Sanders.

I think Charles Grassley (R - Iowa) makes sense.

I say this as a registered Democrat.

wait, i thought the fools who voted for this fool were hoping for change? sounds like they don't want it now, but want to keep their money instead. Hmmm, 2 nickles or a sawbuck? healthcare for illegals and bums, or just for those who pay for it?

The illegals and bums have medicaid already, lol.

I think a discounted plan would be a great idea, for those people who make too much for medicaid but still not enough to afford to pay in to a healthcare plan.

We have something along those lines, Healthy NY, but it's hard to get there's a lot of different criteria you have to meet and it's still on the expensive side.

Why does everybody think that illegals have Medicaid? Most states have strict requirements about citizenship or legal status when it comes to getting Medicaid.

Illegals may be able to walk into a hospital, get service, and never pay the bill. But most of them don't have Medicaid.

As for a discounted plan, I think you just answered your own question.

Axelrod: Public option is negotiable, liberals can go ** themselves.

Hmmm, how does one go about fuvking themselves and is it really the preferable method of satisfying ones urges. Had no objection to the way private health insurance was ran before it was deregulated. And starting this BS about having a pre-condition that wasn't a pre-conditon when you paid years with the same company, then suddently got involved with an accident where they cover you for less than a year, then tell you, you have a pre-condition and kick you off the policy.

Insurance in general is a socialistic means of sharing major expenses, been paying both auto and home insurance for years without ever having a single claim, and health insurance use to be the same way. But at the same time with pre-conditions, came out with discrimination, age, sex, medical history, whereas before, everyone paid the same group rates. If you fall into a classification, your rates will hit the roof and well beyond.

Can go along with those that oppose government control, for one thing, if the government takes over, offices will be closed because it's ground hog or Easter bunny day. And anything dealing with the government is superficially loaded with red tape. Plus they are always losing stuff. Really screwed up by driving over to the SS office on Veterans day, why in the hell should I keep track of Veterans day, never did get that day off, and why in the hell are they taking that day off, most of them are not even veterans! And why Colombus day, they didn't discover America, just sucking off the fruits of it. Point is, not a very efficiently ran organization, so how can that save money? Also once in, takes an act of congress to get rid of you, never see that in private industry, and if you are a complete idiot, they will make a supervisor out of you.

The true definition of a liberal is one that completely analyses the situation from all aspects, both historical, present, and future trends and comes up with the best solution. A conservative is more like give me that old time religion if it was good enough for Moses, it's good enough for me. If that is true, we should still be stoning adulterers.

But we have neither, greed is more like it, we did have good anti-trust laws, and an FTC that took a close look at unreasonable profits that WORKED! If don't have that anymore thanks to the likes of Johnston, Nixon, Ford, that peanut farmer, Regan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush, no opinions on Obama yet. Government should stick to just making laws on regulation, their record on agencies is poor, poor, poor.

Military works where they can work you to death at far below minimum wages with extremely strict laws to live under, it's good to take a couple of bullets before firing back kind of thing. But far better off to become a government contractor where you can make billions and get away with murder. This is our country and it sure went to hell, mostly because of greed.

My vote is to keep the private insurances companies in business with regulations, and giving away free insurance and other stuff doesn't work. USSR was only a communistic country for a couple of years, no motivation to work, than it because a dictatorship. Why should some of us work our a$$es off when you can get the same benefits for free?

Hopefully you don't celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas, since you aren't a Pilgrim and you certainly are not Jesus.
