Sorry if this is a basic question, but I just want to make sure of this (only this so far :P).

The start date for the K1 visa, once it is issued: is this date set by the issuing body, or does it start from whenever you decide to actually travel to the US?

If it does start from whenever you need it for, is there a time period in which you have to use the visa?

Thanks in advance. :)

The K-1 visa (or any other visa for that matter) is valid from the day it is issued (its Start Date).

The K-1 is valid for 6 months (from the day it was issued) - your fiancé will have 6-months to use the visa (enter the US) then 90-days (once in the US) to get married.

Once the visa is issued you have up to 6 months to use it, enter USA. Once you enter that 6 months clock stops (whenever that happens) and then the 90 days one begins. You have 90 to get married and apply for AOS.

"Touched" means the CRIS online system at USCIS shows the case was updated. It just means somebody at USCIS pulled the case from the records for some reason, and the action was scanned into the computer and recorded. It could only mean the package was moved from one shelf to another. Or, it could mean that the package was put into an adjudicator's work bin. Anyway, any movement from USCIS is a good thing.

Cost of AOS is on par with similar PR in other countries.
