Hi,

I am meeting my fiance and her son in Simferopol Ukraine.

She will take a train from Saint Petersburg. Then we will go on

to Evpatoria.

I will need a hotel for one night. Since her train arrives at 3a.m.

and I arrive a day earlier.

Simferopol is not like Saint Petersburg or Kiev, where it is

easy to find info on hotels online. I have found some, but they seem

far away from the train station.

Can anyone recommend a hotel near the train station in Simferopol?

Thanks,

Ed

I never stay in hotels in Ukraine. I rent short term apartments. Google "Kiev rents" and check the listings, several have flats in Simferopol. You caould also try "Simferopol rents"

I agree, renting an apartment is much better. You won't be pushed by hotel personnel and your fiancee will feel more at home, even if just for a day. All I can remember about the train station in Simferopol is that there is a McDonalds just a short distance. I couldn't sleep on the train and while we waited for our bus to Yalta I was sort of in a daze. If seems like a real nice town and we walked around a university on our trip back waiting for our train to leave.

You will probably find that renting an apartment is pretty inexpensive now. The dollar has a pretty good exchange to the Hrivna right now and people traveling in Ukraine is down. My wife just rented a dacha on the beach near Odessa and it sounds like it was pretty cheap. She is an economical woman.
