I will be attending my husband's interview with him in July.. we have been married for 4 years, have stayed together a total of 2 years (on and off- summer/winter vacations/after graduation before finding the job here) and know each other pretty well.. BUT of course fear of "anything/something" going wrong on that day is making me lose my sleep(probably I am worrying too much for nothing :()...Anyway, I was wondering what kind of questions can they ask at the embassy's interview for cross-refernece purposes? We do talk a lot obout family, friends, work etc. so we know that pretty well.. we know the basics about eachother but what curve balls can they throw in there just for the sake of makin it harder?

Please share.. if you have been through one, your input with sample questions would be greatly appreciated.

Well everyones situations are different, some have arranged marriages, some met only once and got married right away, but one of my worries is both of us remembering all the dates, when we met first, how long we were together each time we met, we will deffinetely have to go over the dates with eachother before the interview. Also, I have been married before and my ex husband actually was from mexico and got his residency through me as well. It was a huge mistake and now we have to answer for that. So those are some of my worries...I would like to hear from someone who went through an interview and was asked something that they didnt have an answer for or forgot the answer, how did u handle it on the spot like that???

When I was asked whether I was ever on a J - exchange visitor visa, I first answered NO and I immediately corrected myself and told my IO that I visited the US on a cultural exchange trip back in 1994. She smiled while I looked at her with a 'HOLY #######,Did I just lie to an IO look'. She went on to say that she saw my passport and I actually came on a B-2 visa.

Anyhoo... she added that she appreciated my honesty and I somehow feel that it really helped her to come to the conclusion that our marriage was genuine and that I was not making up stories to get a GC.

In conclusion...be up front and honest. They are also looking for your body language, how you react to certain questions and stuff but it ain't a job interview at AIG - so no sweat!

Goodluck!

u almost answered what u r asking for :)

my wife will be attending my Interview as well in sha ALAH

and as long as u both know each other well ..then nothing to worry about ,, but no doubt tht the couples should make some informations are clear like crystal cz the CO need straight direct answers when they ask ...

for instance , both couples should give the same answer about when they met ..how they met ...how much the average ours of talking everyday ...the EX husbands/wives names ..dates of marriages / divorces ...reasons for marriages and divrorces for each relationship ...and more important is ` why or what you like about ur wife/husband``

also if someone gained residency through u and it was a mistake then nothing to say but the truth , being honest avoid u from falling under their bad punishment ...my wife gave residency to someone frm mexico before .he was in the states anyway ,,and they got divorced after his residency by a year ...but she hanve answers which is `` telling what happened exactly `` ..no law or power say tht u will be punished for this ..may it will raise Question like why , when and what happened ...and if u were doing it with good intenton and just told them all the truth then nothing to worry about ..and more important tht u mentioned it in ur I-130

relax all (including me ) be ur self ..know all about ur partner (times ..dates ..relationships ..work ..addresses ...jobs ..annual earnings ..etc ) and we r good to go :)

Good Luck all

know dates, phone number, home address... tiny details about your life and relationship.

be honest and be clear and concise on your choice of words.

apparently, i've read... don't use phrases like "uhm...." or "I think" or something like that.

Pause, take a deep breath, understand the question and answer without fear.

good luck to you!

Yup body language is very important I feel. You have to be confident it what you say. And about cross questioning, I remember reading it a year ago when I joined the site, anyways the questions could be anything, from which side of the bed did you guys sleep last night to what is each other's favourite colour.

Don't worry much about cross questioning, it happens to rarest of rare cases. What you should be preparing for is your husband getting under AP. Don't think of me as racist or something but since your husband is from Pakistan, there is a good chance of him being put under AP.

Best of luck and be confident (F) .

Thanks everyone.. keep sharing :)

trinket..AP is my biggest concern.. I guess I have come to terms with the fact that he MAY go on AP but I just want to be prepared for the worst that is cross questioning.. AP doesn't mean visa denied but one "conflicting" answer and we are in deep trouble!

I am trying but I still dun think that I am mentally prepared for AP because that would be the worst thing that can happen to us after 4 years of marriage and staying away from each other just because we are from "one of those countries." :(

Unfortunately AP is probable for both of us,, I know I dread it as much as you. Our relationship is suffering so much for the past 4 years that we been together and AP could take up to a year or more. I cant handle being away from him for that much longer. I just keep telling myself AP is the LAST and FINAL leg of this awful journey and we can just use that time to figure out things, where we gonna live, how our life will be when were together, stuff like that. Its so hard and I cry all the time just thinking about AP. Anyways, now just focus only and only on the task at hand...the interview. Only Allah knows best and he will guide us and everything is in his hands. So don't worry dear and lets make duaas for eachother ok? Sorry about off topic.....
