Interesting question at the interview

I would like to share one interesting question my wife was asked at the Addis Ababa, Ethiopia embassy interview. After a long wait, my wife was called to the window and the questioning began. About in the middle of questioning, the consular asked her, "When are planing to divorce your husband after you get to the USA?". My wife screamed and replied, "WHAT?". And the consular kept on to the next question as if nothing happened. I guess the consular was testing my wife's natural reaction to the question. I thought I share it with you what you will be facing at the interview and the different tactics they use to find out if the marriage is legit or not. Good luck every body.

Wow - nothing subtle about that one.

Guess if the reaction is wrong, they go on a different tack...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Wow, that was forward.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Crazy! Thanks for sharing. I feel like Addis is a pretty laid back consulate but they do strange things like that every now and then. When my hubby had his interview they asked him where I worked and lived. He answered Nashville (which was correct) and the officer was like, "Are you sure about that? She works in Washington DC. Let me ask again, where does your fiance live?" So my hubby said, "I don't know what you want me to tell you, but my fiance lives in Nashville." Visa granted.

Yeah, when she first told me, I was very surprised. So what was the consular expected my wife to answer- like, "We are not planing for the divorce yet, but things might have change in the future so I can not tell you the exact date bla, bla, bla .....". Take care every body.
