No more fooling with DHS or USCIS for 10 years! WHOOOOOO! Congrats to both of you. Hope to see you here in the future.

Larry and Mariya--We have not been looking at approval times for this document, but now we see it took you 7 months to get the unconditional green card (6 months til approval) and we are freaking out.

We assume that you filed I-751 ninety days prior to AOS expiring as we are planning to do.

That means your AOS expired in mid-Jan 09. Yet the USCIS saw fit to issue her unconditional GREEN CARD only in May 09. So does the EAD cover from Jan 09-May 09? In other words, what is her status from Jan-May 09?

chili, you should get a form in the mail after filing that says something to the effect of "this document verifies that XXXXXX has applied for unconditional greencard and is authorized to reside, work, etc., in the U.S. until (1 year from application date)."

We were in the same boat until that form arrived. My wife's driver's license actually expired yesterday (Ohio has all state docs expire on same dates as fed exp. dates) but we're just going to let it ride until her GC arrives. No sense in heading down there and arguing with the BMV when she'd have better luck arguing with a cop. "Here, zis document says I not can be make it new driver license until after I got it green card." It's 50/50 either way, but at least this way I don't have to wait in line at the BMV to argue with some flunky about what the state law says in relation to the federal law. I've spent way more than enough time arguing with flunkies at govt. agencies to know you're better off arguing with a cop. At least most cops have common sense and if you're half-way nice to them, (or a beautiful Russian girl) they'll let you go with only a warning.

As far as working, etc. Don't even mention it to the employers. They'll never know anyway.

Thanks, Slim, I have been on the RoC (removal of conditions) forum a lot and basically they said the same thing, that the Notice of Action is all you need to have legal status. The driver license/ID is the same in CA as OH, it is tied to the conditional G.C.

What a freaking mess, I cannot wait for this to be over, based on how the USCIS deals w/change of address we will not be able to move during the RoC process.

I can't wait for my wife to get hers. She keeps saying how horrible a husband I am and she doesn't need me, she can do so much better, etc., etc., etc. Well, once that little card arrives, there's nothing holding her back!
