Hi VJ friends,

I filled in DS-230 and there is a part that is confusing me a lot.

Question 30 says:

30. List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality. Begin with your present residence.

City or Town /// Province /// Country /// From/To or "Present"

I did not put any address under the City or Town, because the question says PLACES.

Also, If I have lived at diffetent addresses, but at the same place (city or town) do I have to list them separately?

For example:

Town of P. /// PL Province /// BG Country/// 01-2009-present

Town of VH. /// MA Province /// USA Country/// 10-2004-07-2005

Town of S. /// SF Province /// BG Country/// 10-2004-07-2005

Town of S. /// SF Province /// BG Country/// 10-2003-06-2004 THEN WENT TO USA FOR 4 MTHS

Town of S. /// SF Province /// BG Country/// 09-2000-06-2003 THEN WENT TO USA FOR 5 MTHS

Town of S. /// SF Province /// BG Country/// 09-1998-10-2009 DIFFERENT ADDRESS, SAME TOWN

Town of P. /// PL Province /// BG Country/// 11-1995-09-1998 SINCE REACHING AGE OF 16.

DOES IT HAVE TO LOOK LIKE THIS OR???

DO I NEED TO WRITE EVERY SINGLE ADDRESS???

OR DO I NEED TO WRITE ONLY THE TOWN, AND THE WHOLE TIME I'VE LIVED IN THIS TOWN, NO MATTER THE ADDRESS???

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR OPINION AND ANSWERS, MUCH LOVE TO ALL

All I put was the town, province, country and timeframe I lived there. I did not have different addresses listed, and it was accepted no problem.

You do not need to list different addresses in the same town /city. However, you should list each location chronologically and make sure there are no gaps in the dates. Good luck

How about the gaps in the dates when I was on a J1 visa in USA? The question is asking to list all places I've been living for at least 6 months. I've been living in the Sates for few months (less than 6) at the dates that are gaps in my answer. Thanks :)

Ani my ds230 was returned because of that question, so the second time around i made sure to ask absolutely everything that could be misinterpreted.

The answers to your questions are: (given either by NVC rep or US Embassy in Bulgaria rep)

List places only if town changed i.e. if you lived in Sofia from May 2005 - August 2007 and changed apartments, list the full block of time as one as long as it's Sofia - the idea is that they want police clearance (svidetelstvo za sudimost) from every town you lived at for longer than 6 months. So unless you lived somewhere that would require you to get a separate police clearance you don't have to list change of address.

The periods you lived in the US should not be listed, even if the total stay there is more than 6 months, you need to list only six month periods at one time.

if you have any other questions feel free to write me a personal message

good luck with everything!

OK, after all I called NVC. I do have to list my time in USA because I lived there for more than 6 months - 3 years. I didn't have to list the previous times when I was in USA for just less than 6 months. And yes, you were right about the town - even if I changed addresses in one town, I still list the whole time as one place only. As about the police clearance, I do not need one from USA. And in Bulgaria I could get it from any municipality, but it takes about a week, while if I go to get it from my place of birth Municipality, I'll have it for less than 15 min. :)

Just so there were no questions or gaps, I filled out the answer, then used an alternate sheet to type out the rest of my answers. I went to school, but always came home in the summer. So I wrote all of that on the paper stating where I lived during the summers, and my addresses when I went to school in the U.S.

Hope that helps!

Am I supposed to write my address since birth? I got confused with "since 16" part...hope you can enlighten me with this.. THank you!

Interpret it literally as the question asks: List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16. So, since you were 16 years of age, not birth.

Good luck! good.gif

Hello, I'm not sure if I can ask this here but I'm sorry I need help...

I sent my Ds 230 few days ago and just today I realized I made a mistake, in the question #30 they say to start with the present location but I didn't read that and I wrote everything from 16 years old to present, being PRESENT the last date listed. Does anybody know if I'm going to have problems because of this mistake?

Thank you so much!
