Two appointments for CR1 visas in El Salvador?

Hi, my husband's case was completed on April 28, 2009 and I just found out his interview date today, but I'm a bit confused. The NVC says there is one interview at the embassy.

But, when I follow the link the the embassy in El Salvador (as directed in the Interview Preparation section of the State Department's web site), the pdf that comes up says:

"Beginning March 1, 2008, all immigrant visa applicants will be required to appear at the Embassy in San Salvador for two separate immigrant visa appointments. Applicants will be scheduled for a morning appointment to submit the required case documentation, and will automatically be scheduled for a second appointment one week later in the afternoon for an interview with the Consular Official.

"Example schedule:

Monday, May 5th, 7:30 am – First appointment for document submission

Monday, May 12th, 12:30 pm (noon) – Second appointment for interview with Consular Official

"All applicants, regardless of whether their appointments were scheduled by the National Visa Center or our regional Visa Information Center (Call Center), will be required to appear for both appointments in order for their Immigrant Visa case to be processed."

I would just believe this, except that when I previously called the embassy they told me that I should submit my DS-230 etc. directly to the embassy and not to the NVC.

Does anyone have any recent experience with this? Or should I just have my husband be ready to go to both, just in case?

Thanks for your help!

maybe NVC is saying that there is but one interview at most of the consulates... consulates have discretion to adapt there own local procedure

YMMV

A lot of people have described being called to the window twice at their interview. The first time they are called they are asked to submit their documentation. The second time they are called they are actually interviewed.

Sounds like the San Salvador embassy has split this into two different appointment dates. Maybe they want more time to go over the documentation before the actual interview.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

I am also going through ES and yes this is standard procedure. The first interview is just document submission. They review your documents for completion and at the following appointment, one week later, you are actually interviewed.
