Hi~

I sent my application in 3/5/09 and received NOA1 in 3/20/09. Am I supposed to call in to make an appointment for the fingerprint or the USCIS will send me a biometrics appointment letter? Do you know how long does it usually take before receiving a biometrics appointment? Is anyone having the same time and still waiting like me?

Thanks everyone.

They will send you a biometrics schedule.. You have to have patience when your dealing with USCIS but it wont hurt if you call them.

I think I got my biometrics appointment letter about two weeks after I sent my application and the appointment was about a month after I filed my N-400.

But I have a question for you. When was the last time you have been fingerprinted? If it has been within the last 15 months or so, your fingerprints might still be valid and you might skip the biometrics appointment. In that case you should be waiting for your interview letter.

i don't think it works like that..

cause last time i had my fingerprints done in august 2008 for removal condition..

and had done again in april 2009 for naturalization.. it was not even a year.. just 8 months and had done again..

I know. There doesn't seem to be a consistency here. For some people it works that way, for other's it doesn't.

Since thanhda filed beginning of March, I would think that he/she should have received a biometrics appointment by now, if they wanted him/her to get fingerprinted again. That's why I would think that he/she might get his/her interview appointment right away.

Of course, if he/she wants to be on the safe side, he/she can call USCIS or schedule an infopass appointment. Otherwise I would just wait for the interview letter and if that doesn't arrive in time, I would definitely contact USCIS.

You are right on.. it's not consistent but it has happened before (people going to interview then oath without biometrics), but in his case.. it won't hurt to have infopass since he received his NOA well over a month ago

May be call the mis-information line first, a higher IO on the phone might be able to give her an answer in regards to if he/she needs to get biometrics re-done or not. Good Luck!

Hi~

Thank you all for your input and suggestion. I don't have my NOA1 letter with me when I am typing, but I kind remember in the letter it said like "...based on your security checks, you will be scheduled for the interview" Did any one have this phrase in your letter? If you did, did you receive a letter for your biometrics appoinment? If the letter said so, I should only be waiting for the interview letter? Do you know how long would it be to the interview date?

Thank You.

That was in my letter also, and is probably standard. I was called for Biometrics, even though my figerprints should still be valid on their system. I am now waiting on the interview letter. Looking at the timelines from March applicants that seems to arrive 5-8 weeks after the application is submitted.
