Hi guys....

Is it a problem if these poverty guidelines are just a little above or closely meet the 125% limit?I mean, do there give you hard time because of this ...or once you just meet these requirements (wages+bank savings) ,thats all the want as far as income is concerned.

I am not having any luck getting a co-sponsor:( One of my cousin is sweet enough and she is willing to co-sponsor.She makes about 42k but her average adjusted gross income for all three tax returns is about 29k.The requirement for household of 5 is 32,237.So if she has about 15k in her savings....to make up for the difference, will it be ok.I also have about the same amount in my savings and i am getting my unemp comp.

I am not having any luck finding a strong co-sponsor or a job and my hubby's interview is approaching :(

Please suggest......what should I do...I think i am just gonna go ahead with this as something is better than nothing...

My belief is that they are strict to being above the guidelines. What about bank accounts, own your home?, life insurance, other assets? You should list everything you an as itemized on the form.

If you are currently unemployed, I would accept the offer of a qualified joint sponsor. We have no reports of anybody being approved with unemployment income as their source. It's income but it's clearly temporary.

Concur with Pushbrk - in that pdf faq for the I-864 there is this little nugget of knowledge:

Is a "sufficient" I-864 the only consideration for meeting any public charge issues at the time of the visa interview?

No. Even though the I-864 is a contract and the U.S. government prohibits giving immigrants most federal means-tested public benefits for at least the first five years after their arrival in the U.S., consular officers look at other public charge issues. They will look at the complete financial situation of the sponsor and the applicant. This means looking at the age, health, education, skills, financial resources and family status of the applicant and the sponsor. They will confirm to the extent possible that the applicant will have adequate financial support and is not likely to become a public charge.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
