I was having problems with IE7 too. It would just lock up and I would have to hit ctrl>alt>delete repeatedly to get it to close. Sometimes the printer would lock up when I tried to print a webpage. Some webpages refused to load or would hang up. It was quite annoying and made surfing the web very difficult.

I installed Firefox and all that stopped.

IE8 is now available, and so far, I have not had any problems with it. If IE7 is being problematic, you need to go to "Tools, Internet Options, Advanced," and do a reset. That solved that problem. Plus, empty your TIF (temporary internet files) on a regular basis. That will speed things up.

Nope. IE 7 on two of my computers didn't have problems.

Your problem may lie within your ISP providers incapable of updating the DNS and proxies routinely enough. Or, your ISP is doing something to their infrastructure. Or, the routers of the ISPs are suffering massive packet loss. Lots of factors.

IE8 seems to load very slowly, which is odd since IE7 loaded quicker. I rarely use IE for anything other than Microsoft updates, so it's not a huge deal.

I generally use Firefox due to the add-ons. Without the add-ons, Firefox wouldn't be worth it at all. It's slow to load and is a system resources hog.

After trying Google Chrome out, I really like it. There are no add-ons to speak of, but it's lightning fast and easy to use. Plus it seems to be far more compatible with websites than either Firefox or Opera.

When I loaded IE8, I shut down most of the add-ons, and didn't use the "recommended" settings. The speed is about the same as IE7, and the screen filter is a lot faster than the phishing filter with IE8, so I left that on. No speed problems yet. Downloads are a lot safer with IE8.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE PROBLEMS???

Recently been getting page cannot be found. happens alot. then if I slick the back button it will load the page. everything seems slow....

Those seem to be more problems with your connexion rather than with IE7 but...

IE7 sucks (haven't tried IE8, and don't intend to) and firefox reigns!

  • more robust browser (I've crashed IE7 lotsa times, Firefox exactly twice)
  • easier to use language-settings
  • on multitabbing, IE7 is known to lockup (won't open pages in new tabs) without notice, though shutting down ONE tab will allow you to open somewhat more
  • on downloading, IE7 allows only 2 files at a time; Firefox, I've gotten up to 15 simultaneously downloading (albeit it did degrade download speed)
