Congrats to Yvie and JGA! :) Well done to you both. I'm sure you're both having a well deserved mental rest now that you've gotten this far :)

I just received an Approval of Notice of Relative Immigrant Visa Petition in the mail. Is this NOA2?? And if it is, why is there no file no? Or perhaps it's NOT and we're waiting on the NOA2 to come addressed to my husband with the case number attached?

Very confused! Any assistance would be grateful! Luckily husband is on the phone with relatives or I would be on the extortion line looking for answers.

Cheers,

Jen

Sounds like the NOA2 to me. We never got a file/case number till we received packet 3 (which is just one page with packet 3 written at the bottom, not some bundle of forms like it sounds). Just went through paperwork and double checked and the Approval of Notice of Relative Immigrant Visa Petition is the NOA2 with the file number box left blank. Congrats on getting to the next step, good luck.

I just realised that Jen's signature says she already has her NOA1. Forgive my blindness! Our NOA2 didn't have our case number on it either, it just said that our file had gone to the Immigrant Visa Unit. We didn't get our case number until the IVU wrote to us about a week later.

Thanks very much for the replies! YAY, for NOA2!!

It looks like your interview date is tomorrow, morretti, so good luck with that! :)

Do we have to wait for Packet 3 to come through to us before we send back the DS-2001/Checklist and Application? Or can we send that through without the case/file number?

Thank you for your help! I thought it would be simple, but now I'm all confused, DUH!

Cheers

Jen :)

Annoyingly, you have to wait for Packet 3. For me, that week long wait was the most frustrating part of the whole thing!

last but not least - we are hoping that once he gets the visa he can visit me a few times in the US before moving in feb. he has a few things to wrap up with work as they are paying for him to get a professional qualification etc etc. is this going to be a problem? will he be able to re-enter the US without a greencard if he doesn't get it soon enough? i'm assuming his first visit will be in sept for just a few days, which wouldn't be enough time for the greencard to get mailed to our address. does anyone know what the deal with re-entry is?

Answered in another thread earlier today :)

I just got home and found our the letter from the Embassy saying our petition was approved!! Im guessing this is the NOA2! I am so relieved! It was one month from NOA1 (June 26th) to NOA2 (it was dated July 26th).

The file number box just has a letter A in it, so I guess I have to wait to hear for our number. I am so excited! I had a funny feeling it would arrive today. I checked the website all day for an update on the timeline. I wish they updated that more often! I guess they like to keep us in suspense!

So we wait in the rain from around 7:20am for our 9am appointment, some discussion going on amongst other people waiting was that they don't open the doors till 8:30am. Great! the only thing I never checked was the embassy opening times..lol Anyway, that turned out to be rubbish, as we were let in and given our stickers/number at 7:43am. Waited, got called to a window, gave the info, were sent to another window to pay the fee then back to the original window to be told to be handed a bit of paper and told to go back and sit and wait for our number to be called. We sit there (hubby and I) ,I'm fretting and he's chilled out telling me not to worry, all will be fine. Then he asks why my piece of paper is a different colour than everyone elses....I momentarily majorly panic! Before realising my paper is pink and most the ones I see are blue, thankfully I'd read here about the pink and blue papers/slips. We got called back to the window and was asked a few basic questions by a lady: Have I ever been arrested; How did we meet; When did we meet; When did friendship become a relationship; How big is Sheboygan?! lol And then smiled and said congratulations.

Big thanks to everyone who has answered my questions patiently and plainly, and those who answered the questions for others so I never had to ask them. Also, thanks for the good lucks and wishes too.

Michelle

Congrats to you Michelle! :) Bet it feels absolutely fabulous! :) Just one question - did you just say on the DS-2001 checklist that is would be you and your husband attending? Or did you get an email code from the extortion line and let them know he was accompanying you!?

I want to go to the interview with my husband which means we take the little one with us too.

And to sharpies! Yay on the NOA2, it looks like our petitions were sat on top of each other at the embassy! We are forever linked... or something :)

Thanks to everyone for the answers to my questions. Still waiting on the Packet 3 to come through. Jealous of the people who only had to wait 2 days! :)

Cheers

Also weirdly enough he said he didn't have to sign part 2 of the ds 230 at the interview??? just had to swear that all things were correct and true. i guess that's good enough.... i'm concerned because he checked the apply for SSN number on that form, so i hope that doesn't cause a problem.
